    Trunk Spoiler Dilemma

I am getting ready to install my new spoiler on my GTS. I have read where it is better to use the 3M urethane adhesive. Question is, should I remove the 2sided tape that came inside the spoiler or leave it there and put the urethane adhesive around it? Putting it on with just the tape is not an option. All urethane adhesive or a combination of both? Thanks in advance.

Is it OEM? OEM has a ridge molded in that grabs urethane better, but makes double sided tape difficult to use without sanding that ridge down first.

IMO...Double sided tape is the way to go. Remove all the old tape first if this is a used spoiler.

Installed OEM T/A Spoiler, The factory uses the same 3m adhesive (basically windshield adhesive). I wouldn't trust the tape.

Ive done it both ways. Urethane can be very messy. Make sure you set it down wxactly where it will rest permanently. No room for error our you got a mess.

It's new from the Viper Store. Looks like the tape might be hard to get out of there (haven't tried yet)

Ok....that is not OEM. Its xtreme supercar's aftermarket copy (notice they call the pattern XSC) That piece is designed for doublesided tape. It doesn't have the ridge to grab the urethane and allow straight application lines

By the way...you overpaid....if you go directly to xtreme its only $1750. Rule of thumb....anything on Viper Store is crazy overpriced.

Okay, so you are recommending that is install it with just the tape? Forget supplementing it with the urethane adhesive?

3M Tape is plenty. Windo-weld is $30 a tube not necessary.

I already have the Window Weld and just thought I would add a little around the borders to make it a little stronger?

Did you buy it new? When I bought mine from Xtreme, it already had the 3M double sided tape installed on the bottom. I just peeled off the strip and set it down on the car.

Went with the tape and used the primer which comes with it. From what I gathered the primer is very important.

Did mine with the factory tape. Just make sure all the wax / sealant is off the deck lid before you put it down.

After you set in place use blue painters tape to hold in place till the 3m tape takes hold. I have tracked this car and been in the 150's with it quite a few time with no issues.

first time I've seen the wing being the same color as the car, with stripes. that looks sweet.
