    Looking to buy

Just had a deal fall through on a 2015 yorange viper last weekend due to foolish "last rides" ending in a wreck... SO i am back on the hunt for another gen 5. Prefer stryker green, Stryker red, Stryker orange, yorange exterior colors (in that order of preference) Open to pretty much anything except black and white for the right price. Wife is finally on board with it so need to find something quick before she changes her mind! Haha!

Hey there. So I am assuming you were looking at a 15 TA 2.0? Think yorange was specific to that TA but not certain. If so, is there a reason you went for a TA 2.0? There are so many models and variations it's confusing af.

Not sure about color but I believe of those 3 you will spend a fair bit more for a Stryker Red GTS than other colors of similar option quality. I'm sure a Stryker orange exists I just haven't heard of it. I'd imagine it's a color code you have to match to order as I really only see orange in the Header Orange TA 1.0 and reportedly the TA/ACR and yorange of the TA 2.0 and maybe some of Brad Woods 1 of 1 cars and buyer specific 1 of 1 colours.

Bummer to hear that car crashed. Def get the model color and options you want. Wife will be glad you take more time and see which she prefers than act quick get the rough model, suspension color and then papers for being impulsive lol. The right car is definitely out there but you will pay more in general for Stryker Red which I felt was maybe exclusive to 2013 GTS cars and those fetch good money...as do TA cars I don't know about Stryker green but any special color will affect price and deal usually. Enjoy the hunt...half the fun!

Stryker orange was def a factory color. They probably made 30-40 of em in all years/trims

2017 SSG ACR Extreme 6 plant miles only. Low low price of $400,000. You talked your wife into a new Viper, talk her into spending $400,000

Please tell me that you're joking about the 6 miles!

If you are not driving these cars, you are crazy (ACRucrazy -- the answer is yes, it seems). And here's why.

Even if you believe the collector car theory, and even if you think these cars will be worth $400k+ in 5-10 years, the reality is that the delta between a car with 6 miles and one with 5k-10k miles is not likely to be more than $50k-$100k. We can look at '05-'06 FGT pricing for confirmation.

So, why torture yourself over that delta (the present value of which is likely 30% of the amount 10 years from now)? We're talking about $15k-$30k in dollars today. Life is short, enjoy the ride. Get that ACR-E out and live a little.

PS There's a guy close to me with a bubble 2012 ZR1. My guess is that he can't get $10k-$15k over what a mint, light miles car would bring if he were to sell it (and it is always listed). Every time I see it in the garage I just shake my head. Why?

Not joking, well on the miles. The price on the other hand is a joke, because it’s not really for sale.

The last 6 months the its been in winter hibernation, the 6 before that, summer hibernation while I drive my ‘09 ACR. Before that? assembly and plant pickup.

If I didn’t have my ‘09 i’d be driving the ‘17. At some point I will get around to it.

Definitely an odd viper thing is the miles. For true collectors sure every stock part and sub 1k mile and VIN match or special consideration counts. Or just personal enjoyment out of looking Vs driving. I even get that though can't imagine doing it myself for a viper. But if you look at average decent to nice gen 1 or 2 cars. Even 10-20k miles is extremely low mileage. 2k as year is pretty low driving. A 2002 would mean roughly 36000 on the typical 02 listing but that isn't the case. Numerous vipers have 8-20k miles going back to 1992.

I feel it's mostly a false belief that low, miles are somehow needed. Low miles WERE needed on some F cars and other older exotics that had engines struggling to hit 15-20k miles. The viper never really was that enginer people needed to worry about. That alone was evidenced by the rt10 that had around 240k miles and counting at some point. It I'm not surprised with people who bubble cars. Many own like 10 exotics and really either don't have time and or just like driving some of their cars as equally as looking at a pristine example of a favorite more than worrying about a stone chip or other things we often worry about as the drivers. To each his own

Unfortunately it has a lemon title. And is more expensive than the one I was buying with a clean title. Have to be careful with the palmers cars I’ve seen multiple ones they bought off manheim with lemon titles that they try to sell at the cost for clean title cars.

Thanks for looking out though... still searching for that Stryker car to show up available haha!

That’s not exactly true with the Gen 5s.

I too would rather buy a Gen 5 with some miles, especially with 2013-14.

    That's sounds like Palmer.

I guess they are good for the Viper community since they are buying so much inventory and jacking up the prices, thus increasing the resale values. But I don't like it when dealer's do have have full disclosures on their listings.

Values increase on sold prices not asking prices. I have seen cars up here in Canada which has a very low supply of Vipers yet they are still sitting almost a year or more later on car lots. I think once the hype of the last year of the Viper is over (which may be in a few years when they come up with a newer better model) I think all the values will come back down to earth and you'll be able to get a Gen V ACR for sub 100K.
In the meantime, unlike most of the investor owners, i choose to invest in real estate and in a few years buy your Vipers for half price and still have 100K in the bank from real estate.

Thanks for the real estate tip. I'm sure most guys here who own 100K+ Gen V's are clueless about finances and will heed your advice.
Very envious of your business acumen and congrats on your dream of someday owning a used Viper.

ACR at half price...say $70K + $100K still left in bank = $170K total in bank pre ACR...you might want to consider a nice used Vette instead.

Well spoken, used vettte would fit him better.
But 100k from Realestate??? Damn... if that’s it he may want to look into another profession.Sounds like he is in way over his head on this.... maybe another forum would better suit him
