Side sill repaint

Does anyone know if Prefix Painting in Detroit would repaint my side sill, and if so any contact info?

I know nothing about Prefix....but make sure they evaluate the sills for aluminum corrosion. I had some bubbling on my sills and they needed to repaired before painting. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

How did they repair the corrosion? I have a very low mileage 96 that also has corrosion. I'd like to know the correct way to fix it and NOT have it come back.

Remove the inner sill insulation from the sill and then line the sill side of the insulation with heavy aluminum foil. Coat the inner sill with a hi-temp paint. Reinstall.

The early GEN II's had metal lining only on the cat side with the inner bare fiber directly glued to the inner sill. Absorbed car wash & rain water steamed the sills every time they got hot which over time caused the corrosion. Keeping the insulation sealed from any water absorption is the goal.

Later GENII's (and warranty replacement sills for corroding early GENII's), came with fully metal wrapped sill insulation which solved the problem.

My 97 had full metal heat shield on drivers side, no corrosion, and paper backed on passenger side, corrosion and slight hole. Welded it closed and re-painted them a year ago. Car was only wet a couple times in it's life and spends most of it's time in heated/AC building. 8000 miles! While I was in there, I replaced stock cats with Roe Hi-Flows. A little louder and a lot cooler!

Sounds like just as much of a garage queen issue as it is a design issue. If you spend more time washing the car and getting water in those places than you do driving it which would dry it out, well, because corrosion.

Sam Goldfarb, cooler sounding or cooler engine temps after you did the hi-flow cats? I gotta get my temps down. bigger radiator, fan not helping enough. I ran Mo Cool on the coolant flush last time, but still wanting the car to run cooler

Any competent body shop can paint them, no need to go to Prefix.
