    Does anyone know this shirt

I came across this old shirt offered on Ebay recently. I am wondering if this was kind of official shirt made by Chrysler or maybe for internal use only!? Maybe some of you here know a bit more about it... Also, has there been a lot of testing of the Viper mules at the Arizona proving grounds at the time?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Generally a shirt like that would be for sale at the proving grounds or for a specific event held at the proving grounds. I work for an OEM, (not chrysler) and a shirt like that would often be given to volunteers that help out with a "family day" or similar industry event. I have shirts like that but not Viper. Cool find.

Reading Maurice's superb 25 years of Hisssstory book I learned that in December 1989 team viper invited Chrysler executives to Arizona to test drive mule VM-01. So it is quite likely that this shirt was made for that event!? That would be awesome....

That's true. I am wondering, when the Sneaky Pete we all know was created? Perhaps this is a very early version if him. Also the shirt shows the concept car and not a production Viper, so maybe this shirt was created at an early point in time, e.g. between 1989 and 1991...?

I assume, this shirt was made for the craftspersons at CAAP!?

Both of those shirts here are mine. So if you could both send them to me I would appreciate it.

TONS and TONS of Viper testing were done at AZ, including Gen 1.

I have a retired friend from there, shot him the pic and Roy too................. stay tuned...

    Shirt Solved:

The UAW workers at the AZ Proving Grounds in Whittman AZ had a series of shirts printed for fellow employees working on the various Viper there. They were sold at the small employee store at the AZ PG. My retired Team Viper contact says that one is a VERY EARLY shirt, and may even have been the first one produced by the Union workers.

Probably NOT an official UAW project, because no UAW mention, and not an exact Sneaky Pete shield or font! This shirt was made before Chrysler Marketing and/or Logo Police entered the picture. Great Score !

As a P.S, Roy was not even familiar with the shirt.

    ----------------------------------------

TRIVIA: This project reminds me of 2010. I made / donated TEN N'Ring record shirts and gave to Team on return. A 2-Day Project! They had CAKE and a SHIRT on return. Worn proudly, the entire CTC was abuzz and wanted one. The SRT boss asked me to produce 200-300 shirts ASAP for the N-Ring record. FASSSST. I did it. They sold for cash at CTC and SRT sent me the money, all at my net cost.

30 shirts were left over and donated at Daytona NARRA Viper Cup to club participants.
Ralph was there. Ben Keating wore MY shirt on the Podium...weeks later made his own. !!

Irony: The VCA BOD tried to have me disciplined for mis-use of the Viper logo, an internal, private, off-the-books SRT project! I had even used a licensed vendor in MI.

Jon, thanks so much for the feedback! This is now my favourite Viper shirt

Also, amazing story on the Nurburgring shirts. Maybe I am lucky and will source one of those on Ebay one day
