I'm probably an idiot but I just bought 12 quarts of Pennzoil Ultra 0w-40 off Amazon (two 6 quart boxes) and found a $2.00 per quart rebate but still came to $93.00 delivered free shipping. Why the hell is Pennzoil so much more???
Awesome! Thanks for the heads up
Thanks Cobra!!
Jon, Mobil 1 has these rebates almost every 6 months.
Go to Walmart and they typically have the 5 gallon jugs for about $26. (Even the 15/50)
Couple that with the rebate and your getting 10 quarts for $30.00 with sales tax
So I take it nobody is using the so called "factory fill" Pennzoil anymore and going with Mobil One. Live and learn.
Thanks for the heads-up. I always take advantage of this one whether it's for the Viper or other cars in the fleet.
Cape, Do a search for a thread from 1-2 years ago
Walmart wasn’t listed back then either, but we all got the rebates
They only call out Amazon as ineligible
Cape, here's the thread I referenced from 5/13/17. Back then, Walmart wasn't listed but a bunch of us got the rebate from Walmart purchases.
don't lose your receipt!!

Thanks Red Tan!!
The only Mobil #1 10w-40 is European formula. No where does it state approved for SRT vehicles!!!!! just certain foreign cars .Are we to use this in our Vipers ????? Thanks
you can use it. Thats like saying you cant use Exxon gas in the car
FYI...Walmart had 15-50 M1 marked down to only $22.xx for 5qt jugs. Can’t beat that with this rebate.
Wish it wasn’t so dang hard to find M1 5W-50.
The Pennzoil will be more expensive, as it is the only oil currently made from Natural Gas. Frankly both are high quality oils , but yes, you will find that we do pay more for the technology.
This thread gets a little hard to follow since we are talking about different generations. Supposedly the Pennzoil Ultra was the oil used in development of the Gen V motor according to Bill P and others.
True to a point , Jon, and thanks for mentioning . Shell/Pennzoil did not have the proper weight designation for the Viper , so they did actually get together with SRT/Dodge and do a 0-40W for the Viper. This was in part due to the fact that Shell/Pennzoil was the oil company contracted through Dodge and the Pennzoil Reps came to Dealerships around the Country to let them know about the new marketing agreement with FCA and that they even sat down with Dodge and formulated a specific weight , etc. for the Dodge Viper. The classy thing was is never once did they knock Mobil 1 , and in fact stated it was an excellent oil . The data on the Ultra Platinum was to show that it is the cleanest oil ever made, and according to some rumors, Mobil will likely be using their process in the future to produce some oil from Natural Gas ---- hence that would likely be higher priced. I can see no problem using Mobil 1 in your Snake, but Dodge recommended to our Techs , many years back ( before Pennzoil ) to switch Vipers over to 0-40w. As noted by some, things advance, and products evolve , whether they are automobiles, oil , refrigerators, computers, etc.
Well I'm certainly glad (not) that I spent twice the Mobil One price to use Pennzoil Ultra like a good sheep.
