    Carbon Fiber wheels

Just ordered a set of Forgeline Carbon Fiber Viper specific wheels.

they weigh about 16lbs for a 19inch set. A 20x12 that they recently made weighed 18.5lbs and the fronts in 20x10 weighed 16.5 if im not mistaken.

So its safe to say that there will be a 10lbs of unsprung and rotational weight saving PER corner. My bank account is NOT happy though...

retail is something like $16.5k for the set but thats not what I paid, I got a good offer on them with titanium Tikore wheel lugs and R888R tires.

I'd like to see GT350R wheels with viper bolt patterns and sizes. Those wheels look great and are exceptionally light

I spoke to Carbon Revolution they said that they dont make anything for the Viper at the moment, also the wheels are heavier than this if I recall. Those wheels look gorgeous but maybe im biased?

The GT350 carbon wheels are heavier than sidewinders if they were our sizes. They are 18 lbs each in puny Mustang sizes

These look awesome. But website shows around $4k per wheel. That's some change right there.

I wouldnt have the guts to pay that much for wheels, then tires, then shipping, and TPMS and additional charge for a custom finish etc... I got a good deal and in all fairness if anyone is interested I can put you through to the guy who gave me the offer. Im obviously not affiliated with the seller and I dont make anything by posting these here, just sharing my excitement lol

Make sure they fit the right tpms. When I ordered I copied someone else’s design who didn’t care about tpms. Needless to say I had a hot rod shop drill holes in the valve stem to make everything work.

I love your posts Ayousef! You're a lunatic! LOL.
Please weigh them when you get them! I don't think they will be much lighter than Sidewinder 2's, but I hope I'm wrong!
    Sidewinder's weigh:
    18.42 front
    22.91 rear

If you really care about reciprocating/unsprung mass, Pirelli slicks weigh 12 lbs less than Hoosiers EACH, probably 15 lbs less than a street tire

They already weighed the 20's in the picture and the rears were 18.5 and fronts were 16.5. Im hoping the 19's I ordered will be in the 16.5 range all around. There isnt a lighter wheel for our cars period! I looked everywhere.

The only "problem" is the rears only go up to a 12inch wider barrel.

A narrower rear wheel will give you less contact patch to the ground tire for tire.
What size front did you go with?

Are you sure about the less contact patch? I believe there is way more to it, for example the width contact patch will decrease with tire size width but I believe the contact patch will grow in length offsetting some off the overall contact patch area?

All of the possible performance benefit is lost with your tire choice. Like AZ said switch to a slick. More weight savings over just the wheels alone and vastly superior grip.

Curious what the wheels load capacity is like. Is there any fear of them exploding when crashing over curbing? I just don't know anything about them.

Agreed, a great example of this is going from stock rear Kumho tires to Sport Cup 2s - Kumho is 41 Lbs and PSC2 is 33 Lbs. 8 Lbs per corner saved without even going to slicks.

Or the Hoosier R7 at 30 lbs = saving 11 lbs per corner.

Yea... those look incredible! Would take curb fear to level 10.

Did Forgeline already make the wheel? I would opt for 19" rear wheels. I went with a 19front 20rear for my forgelines.
If you are getting carbon wheels for the lightest weight possible you will need smaller diameter wheels.

Not sure about your brake setup but if money is of no issue (carbon rotors) maybe 19" front would be the only choice for wheels to accommodate that larger carbon rotors.

Beautiful wheels, but rears need a bigger lip. Just does not look right to me.

Congrats, although I wish you'd have given a VOA sponsor a chance to take care of you

Sorry about that! I really got an offer I couldnt refuse, I think the vendor isnt making a dime on those wheels at the price I got to be honest.

Forgeline has taken an interesting approach in using aluminum spokes to avoid some of the heat issues that others are having. An even more interesting (i.e., weight saving) approach might be carbon barrels and forged magnesium spokes but no one has done this -- yet!
