    Replacement shocks for 2003

    Hi everyone,

While the car was in for a new rear diff (thank you again for everyone who provided suggestions on that front) we discovered all 4 shocks are leaking (46k miles on the car), which I guess is not uncommon. I plan on selling the car as I just bought a place in SF and am a poor millennial now. I have been told by Valaya that stock shocks aren't necessarily a great replacement option because a lot of them leak. As I haven't really modded the Viper at all I have no idea what options are out there for shocks.

Any suggestions would be great! Definitely not going all out as I am just fixing it up to sell. Poor car just collects dust nowadays! And anyone in Nor Cal looking for a non beat to death Gen 3 give me a call!

I went with mcs shocks as stock ones were not great for tracking and overall ride quality .

    Car looks good!

If you are going to sell the car, I would recommend just stating in the ad it has leaking shocks and price accordingly.

Or for low cost that ride pretty good, could go with BC Coilovers.

Thank you for the recommendation! May be a bit too rich for my blood as I'm selling it but I am open to all options and want to make sure whatever direction I take is quality as well.

Also I didn't see Creatre's post before commenting, I have heard of BC and will check them out!

Honestly, I'd just go with the OEM ones. Provided that they are the cheapest. Don't upgrade the car for someone else to use. Let thtme make that call.

put oem back in them. There are plenty around for next to nothing. If I still had mine I would have gave them to you for free. Unfortunately I tossed them years ago.

Haha it sounds like that may be the way I'm going. Valaya found 2 good rear shocks in like 30 seconds just wandering around his shop, we'll track down some fronts and make it so.

He had mentioned BC but had never personally used them so was a little wary. If anyone can vouch for BC as a backup that would be great!

    Thanks again everyone!

Call JonB (he helped me with an OEM set), or any of the national dealers might have a set laying around. All four of mine leaked on my '03 with 20k on the clock.

The problem with the Gen 3+ shocks is that they are not repair/re-buildable. I have a set of shocks off a 2006, no issues. I also have a new set off a 2014 SRT, less than 2000 miles. Direct bolt on replacement. Check PMs.

I have a set of complete good used production "non leaker" shocks if interested.

As far as aftermarket goes, MCS or KW would be the best choice.

Thanks everyone, I got a few PM's I responded to. I am just waiting to hear back from the shop to see if they have a usable set lying around. If not I will contact people!

I was thinking about going with a set of BC's too. Do you have a side photo so I can see how your car is sitting..

Unreleated and totally off topic, but a fair warning about that exact Tire Discounters off of Feedwire: they are the shop that skipped a pry bar across the face of one of my 5-spokes a few years ago when trying to mount new tires. I was less than impressed with how they handled their mistake, and consequently do not recommend them. Could have just been the guy working the machine that day, but they swore up and down than they handle exotics all the time with no issue.

I went to them for an alignment only.... Mike from Proxes Tuning recommended them so with $150 they can knock out my alignments for the next 3 years. Figured it was smart due to Ohio winters/potholes. I actually just had the Middletown Tire Discounters mount and balance a new/used wheel that I had to pick up for the passenger front. Bought the car with a half moon shaped rash on it and needed to get that taken care of.

Our local president here is looking for OEM replacements for an 05. Her passenger front has a slight leak. I gave her Jon B and Dan Cragins info. Any other options would be helpful too.

    Thanks Viper Community

I do have good take off shocks. The MCS suspension is a great replacement as well.
