    gen4 coupe pricing stability

    All,

Not sure if this has been discussed recently, but has anyone noticed stability, or a potential rise in gen4 coupe pricing recently? I'm looking on ebay and cars.com and supply seems lower than usual, and pricing seems to have gone up slightly.

Any thoughts? I have an red/black '08 coupe, 32k miles with full bolts ons and all factory options that I am trying to get a market price on jut for curiousity purposes.

Yea, sounds about right to me.

Rare car. Low enough miles. Probably well cared for etc.. Provide a full maintenance history.

    Sounds about right. GLWS.

Lots of variables to be identified. Are you the original owner? If not how many owners? Original window sticker? What's the overall condition? As of now and what I know of your car (very little) I'm going to say anywhere from $45,000 - $55,000. With 32,000 miles you better have a lot of supporting documentation if you're seeking the higher end of what I proposed. Not that I'm looking to sell but for comparison sake I have a 2008 SSG coupe, I am the third owner but the two previous owners were basically collectors and I have some documentation with their info. I also have the original window sticker, the original car cover from the factory (unopened) and a few other tidbits. I even saved the original tires from the car that only have 1,800 miles on them, I changed them out due to age but shows how little use the car had when I purchased it in 2016. I would consider my car a 9/10 with 5,300 miles on it. If I was thinking of selling I would need to get around $65,000 before even considering. And considering I wouldn't consider an offer consider this a non-consideration!

Your car brought what is likely one of the best premiums for a GenIV with a fair amount of mileage that I have ever seen. This being because you bought it from Alex who is one of the most well documented members here who has an unparalleled attention for detail. Let me be clear, I am not implying that you over paid! I'm not sure how many miles you have accumulated since you bought it but if someone is offering you north of what you had paid you're almost crazy to not take the money and invest it towards a GenV with half the mileage.

Haha! If you have a passion for the GenIV's like I do I almost want to retract my previous comment. Lol!

As a first time owner, I'm beyond satisfied with a GenIV so no worries.
Too many GenV land mines for my taste and experience level. But who knows, maybe one day.

With the Viper, I'm firmly in the camp of 'No Sudden Moves'. Happy to just sit back, continue to take good care of her and have a good whiskey (Ttrent!).

Looking real hard at adding a Grand Sport Vette to the little collection or doing the Vaydor project. Depending.

A super sexy GenIV Viper and a gorgeous Grand Sport in the garage.. I could live with that!

I never understand land mine comments when you have full warranty. The majors issues are a low percent of the total and it's free to fix.

This is spot on. Here are a couple recent sales. 2008 SSG w/38k miles for $45k

    2008 Venon Red w/29k miles for $43k

5 years from date purchased, so some cars are starting to reach the end of warranty.

My 14 TA was one of the grenades with less than 4k miles on it at the time of explosion.

Id be weary buying a low mileage Gen V car with no warranty or close to the end of warranty. I definitely feel its going to hurt the used car market for cars out of warranty, that haven't had the engine replaced.

It’s very simple and easy to extend the full warranty to 8 years. Takes about 10 minutes and $2k.

Which is about 97% of gen V’s.

Ya know on second read.. first you say it was "likely one of the best premiums for a GenIV" and then you say "I'm not implying that you over paid!".

Obviously you don't understand the color Orange! (recently saw a listing for an Orange GenIV like mine for $64K)
I - on the other hand, hold the Trademark "SSG With Envy"

Another thing I was warned about (by multiple Viper dudes) was NOT to buy a super low mileage car that's just been sitting through radical weather changes.
Because of cracked seals & bushings and leaks etc.. Much better to find a car that has some miles on it and has been meticulously maintained.

A quick look at the current Viper listings looks exactly like the market 10 months ago when I bought mine. => little has changed. Seems stable.

One thing we agree on is a good Maintenance History. Gotta have it.

Both of those sales are a little disappointing. Seems like something is a little off there. Timing and circumstances could explain it.
I wouldn't look at those two sales and call it a "trend". There are a couple 2010's out there for $100K.

    Maybe here's another diff.
I'm a true enthusiast and am willing to pay a bit of a premium for what I want. You guys are Low-Ballers. Always looking to drive the market down.

Too many stories like this, even if it's 3% of the entire pool.
Hate to say it out-loud but maybe the best advice would be, if you're buying a GenV get one that's been DRIVEN and has the extended warranty.

This percentage doesn't mean anything considering that many of the GenV's have had aftermarket components installed that may void a warranty.

Regardless of whether or not we feel its wrong that warranties are voided due to this, fact is, you don't know until you have to deal with FCA. That said, if you had a lifetime warranty, this would not make any difference since you don't know if it will be covered

Gen IV cars are awesome. Last of a breed and they offer a more raw experience compared to the V's

Well to be fair those were 7-10 day auctions, one had no reserve, not fixed priced ebay ads. It takes several months to sell a viper for what it's really worth in my opinion, a week is more of a fire sale.
