I kick myself regularly for not buying the black '00 or '01 ACR that was for sale in Oregon a couple of years back. It was listed for sale at a Hyundai dealership, and was a non-comfort group car. Imagine the heat in that beast... black, non-A/C, and stock!

I agree with you. A/C is the most important feature and an absolute necessity on a Viper.

Now listen up all you people with your hardcore cars!!!! Since you junkbox Owners have cars without AC I will do you all a huge favor and take them off your hands for a full 1/2 of what a normal AC equipped car goes for. No need to thank me. I’m just here to help the Viper community. This is a great opportunity for you to unload your cars that nobody wants. They don’t even have radios for goodness sake! Please don’t all PM me at the same time. I’m sure if all 20 or so of you try to PM me at the same time to accept my extremely generous offer, I might have issues with my In Box. Please allow a month or so for a response when you send me a PM as I will be out looking at and busy with cars that people are actually interested in Buying.

    You’re welcome.

Like it or not AC and radio delete were defining attributes of the Gen II ACR. It was on every piece of marketing material produced. The fact that so few were produced I guess showed the majority of the buyers were more interested in having the most expensive Viper and less interested in in Dodges intent for the car. I have spent considerable time in one of these cars (in CT). As a summer cruise night, fair weather car no AC is a complete non issue. Now if I was commuting in August on the Cross Bronx it wold be miserable. Most of these cars are rarely driven so it’s likely they only get out on the most perfect of days. Dans example above illustrates that. Whoever buys that car will likely not be driving it much and it will be (and probably should be) added to someone’s collection. That is a very cool car. To each his own but a factory No AC, no radio, 5 pt harness, tunable suspension, bbs wearing gen II viper is way cool piece of automotive history especially considering we are talking about 99-02, not that long ago.

Maybe not in CT but in about 50% of the country it would be a major issue. I'm guessing a Summer night cruise in CT the temps are upper 60's to lower 70's? In TX a summer night cruise would still be in the mid 90's. There is no way I would be driving a no-AC car in the summer around here which may be another reason these cars are rarely driven.

Heck , I would look for a regular ACR as there were only around 200 built each year from 99 to 2002 , and many of the AC/radio Delete cars were sold to guys who wanted to turn them into track cars ( know of one that went to Australia ). Not a lot of machines out there and keep in mind if it is a mid year 2000 you will probably need shocks ( they had a severe tendency to leak).

Funny story on how the " Hardcore" came about , but it actually only relates to the 08-10 model ACRs.
