    Ipsco rear hooks pic

I’m Looking for a simple way to tie down to Trailer. The ipsco set looks like it would work for me. Feedback? Pics?

    Thx!

Do you really want to use a tow hook for a tie down ? Seems like a downward force would load this in a way that its not really supported (as opposed to straight back or forward like its being pulled)

Personally I think the best way is to tie down on the tires.

Go thru the wheels. Tow hooks are for towing when broke down.

There are 2 types of rear Tow hooks, a set of HD ones that bolts to the underside of the car, wich you can use to also tie down the car, and the rear Tow hook through the bumber, this one I would only use to tow the car, not to tie it down.

On my 09 ACR and on my 15 TA I used the front (two of them) and rear (ones that stick down, two of the rears too) IPSCO tow hooks to tie down the car. The rears worked great. The fronts worked but probably not the best idea. On my 17 ACR I go through the wheels.

The set that bolts to the frame work great. They bolt to the same area that accepts an R hook.

I just installed them. They will def be fine for securing on a trailer. They bolt vertically to the frame and also horizontally. Very easy install, and look extremely durable. I also installed the front. Easy also. Not quite as stout, but looks good enough for the (hopefully) occasional use. I personally wouldnt use the front as a tie down point, but I am sure it would hold if need be.

How long of an Axel strap are you using through the wheels?

MAC's tie downs are what I use. 36" Axle straps through the wheels. I personally would not ever trailer the car hooked to the rear tow hooks. Yes I have them installed. Yes they are strong, but can they take the continual force of being used as a tie down vs the short duration of force for being used for towing?

The rear tow hooks would be fine to tie down to.

On a non-ACR Gen 5 the frame attached rear tow hooks from IPSCO are absolutely fine for tie down. I actually would prefer them to through the wheel straps. I've used them on my 06 coupe, 09 ACR, and 15 TA 2.0 for tie down. They are strong as heck and attach directly to the frame. Unfortunately they don't fit an ACR because of the ACR's diffuser. I am always concerned about the torque that a strap can apply to the suspension when using through the wheel tie-downs. Remember those Gen 4s that broke knuckles. I use the reinforcing pieces in the rear for that reason. Limited choice though for a Gen 5 ACR so through the wheels is what I do.
