After a WOT run, I heard a slight pop and there is now the passenger side there is a very odd, whisling kind of noise, not really a mechanical rattle. It is RPM & heat dependent. At cold and idle, you do not hear the noise, only as the car warms up and above 1200 RPM -- gets louder as RPM goes up. It does not sound like a mechanical knock kind of thing. I have checked the rest of the exhaust system, and it seems that the noise is coming from above the front cat, so I am assuming it is part of a spot on the manifold I cannot see.
I have heard this is a fairly common issue, but usually on the driver side. A few questions, can I just remove this manifold and have it welded by a shop? These manifolds are pretty expensive new (with the R hand side being double the driver side). Also, I am not interested in headers at this time, as I don't think any of these header systems are actually CA smog legal.
