However, BJ auction results from this past weekend have put Viper's at a cross road in my opinion. It wasn't long before VE changed their opinion on list prices and now ask for buyers to call

This is by no means a call out, rather an example as the same can be seen on Ebay classified ads, but I believe Vipers are at the beginning of long mark up bubble. Perception loses reality between buyers and sellers. Couple in the 1 off makes + options, paint, etc and it will be hard to benchmark a value in the used market. Does the legacy of the Viper want to continue surviving appealing to both blue and white collar enthusiasts as Ralph Gilles intended and once stated in an interview or go the route of being solely obtainable for those that shell out major cash? Will cars continue to change hands $20k, 40k, 60k+ over original MSRP? Time will tell.

I predicted this on 6/24/16, opening day for final year orders, placed mine and sat back. I can't believe this happened inside one year; I thought for sure it would take at least 5 years. Buckle up, gonna be interesting ...

I bought my GTSR there. I knew they would rise and even as a dealer, paid a premium to get one of them. Pissed off at myself for not ordering the two special editions I had been allocated at the time.

I was initially frustrated VE would not "deal" on price with me. Bernie actually laughted when I asked him "what's the best you could do?" Regarding the '16 TA 1.0 / y'orange I ended up with. He did take $2k off, which seemed like the worst discount on a car ever. This was in Oct '16. I guess I should be grateful!

I've had three ACR-E's. I couldn't keep the GTSR on ice any longer so I sold my ACR-E and will start driving the GTSR when it gets warm.

That seems about right. Prices are going up. If someone wanted it they should have pulled the trigger when it was cheaper. Just ask all the TA people about prices. Just over a year ago quite a few traded hands in the $70’s. Now everyone wants north of $90K.

I can see this in a few years maybe, but ONLY on no mile cars. There's going to be a good sized handful of collectors out there for this car, but when they buy it's gotta be a "new in the box" car.
The more these cars get tracked and even driven on the street, the more the value is going to skyrocket on no-mile cars. Even right now, there's probably only 50-ish no-mile ACR's sitting on lots or collectors garages.

Yes, VE is going to be setting the pricing on these cars for the indefinite future. Right now there are still some dealers with new cars and enough private sellers with some supply that we are still a year or more from that day, but it is coming. They selected a very specialized niche (i.e. Vipers), have a solid reputation, and have invested heavily to be able to service these cars going forward (i.e. relationship with Arrow/Prefix). My guess is that if we keep our cars long enough (i.e. 10+ years), we will all become customers of VE in one form or another. Not a terrible thing, but a little scary that there may only be one such source going forward.

Very true that bubble cars will be the most rare and sought after. However, looking at old Corvettes, etc., I find that "low miles" is a relative term. There are still $200k cars with 70k miles on them. Of course, they are so valuable because they are very rarely available for sale, in amazing condition, and all original. If you want one, you have to wait for it to become available (and keep in mind that 10,000 of any specific model were built).

If there are 50-ish no-mile ACR's, and we are 5 years out, you will never be able to buy one because (a) they simply will not be for sale; and (b) if they are ever offered for sale, they would be offered so infrequently that you'd be waiting a long time for one to become available. Those numbers are just so scant, that you might as well consider those cars as non-existent (do you know of any 1963 split window Vettes with no miles??? I bet there are some, maybe even 50, but you would never know about them). We're talking about statistically insignificant quantities here.
