I think we all appreciate it! I just think it is about growing our love for the Viper even with the discontinuation of production. We need more owners/members in our community, attracted to more things with their Vipers and on top of that more great Vendors making more great aftermarket products!
Ah City, sorry we didn't give you enough credit
BTW, I had the same color combo as your 08 on my 08 ACR!
I actually agree with the input as well. We'll talk as a group to see what kind of consolidation we can do, which would also minimize the movement of threads.
With that said, I know the lives these mods live with respect to organizing our site and maintaining (as if they weren't so diligent, it would indeed be a mess). I think it's a good time to reassess, as after a few years we can now fine tune things based on what we're seeing and the input we're getting. We really did build a massive number of categories, I agree that if they're too broken out, and it actually does affect traffic. However, consolidating some just to put them in categories that are busier (or creating subforums) probably isn't the best approach in my opinion (though I know some may have suggested that to perhaps appease the need for some separation as a compromise while still bringing it into the gen5 sec).
What we should easily do is have larger buckets, and less of them, so things are less segregated and minimized movement. But I'll leave that up to the group to decide via consensus. I have a feeling there's some good and easy changes that can be made.
Well then.... I honestly never even noticed that, thank you! Although this still won't get utilized by most as it's rather incognito. Why can't this be made the main page with all other forums underneath? I honestly cannot imagine GenV guys are going to do this to explore other forums, typically when you log in it emphasizes what you haven't read yet by being in bold print. If it was a main page I honestly feel as if it would encourage members to aid in other Gen sections as it would be more of an in your face atmosphere.
I personally feel as the way the forum is set up with all the different categories is great. Even the people that are saying the same thing about the track section that I am saying about the GenIII/GenIV section would be greatly improved if there was a main page that showed all of the most recent posts regardless of what category they are in. It seems to be human nature to be drawn to the most recent posts first, if we could display the 10,15 or even 20 most recent posts as a main page it would seem that everyone would automatically see the title and if interested, click on it.
Last but not least... Why is this thread in the GenV section??? Kind of ironic....
LOL. We were all kidding ourselves about moving it to the (appropriate) suggestions area! Personally, I was frightened of the likely backlash. Sometimes I just grow weary of always appearing the pain in the arse mod who upsets forum members.
I DO have a heart you know!
Plum always comes off as the angel of the mod group. Can't stand that guy. He makes me sick!

Yes, exactly !
THE IGNORE FEATURE WORKS, TRY IT...
Let's talk about spiders.
Not necessarily agreeing? LOL. So if the word track is involved in a Gen 5 post, it should be REMOVED from the Gen 5 forum?
99% of "track" posts made by a Gen 5 owner want to be read by most Gen 5 owners and will not be seen. Have you counted the number of new Gen 5 threads posted daily? There's not many.
It's absurd that if I post a pic of 5 Viper's that met up at Walmart, it goes here, but if that same pic was taken with a track in the background it gets REMOVED from the Gen 5 section.
Same with if somebody does a 9.0 liter review and drove it at the track it goes to the track section, but if I tested it at illegal speeds on the street it stays.
When I do a post that involves me or my car and a "racetrack", my post is sitll about my Gen 5 Viper. I don't understand why all posts about a Gen 5 Viper are relevant to the Gen 5 forum, but as soon as the word "track" is involved, the post is no longer relevant to Gen 5 enthusiasts.
So continue to not agree, I'll try to hide the word "track" in my posts from now on so other Gen 5 owners can see them.
I totally agree! If someone goes and tests their car on the streets it's ok but at the drag strip or the track it gets moved. One is illegal and very dangerous and the other is the safest and the best places for Vipers! One creates criminals and accidents while the other creates fun, enthusiasts and dedicated Viper owners. If the track is so separate why is it included at the National Viper event in Vegas? The track is just part of the Viper I think each Gen should be able to talk about their Gen in their section. If we want a dedicated track section for race teams etc thats fine but regular members should be able to post their track outings in the appropriate Gen section.
This thread should immediately be moved to the proper section.
Thread reported.
I agree that this might be a concept to consider. I never have any issue because I have set up a shortcut that allows me to open the "New Posts page" directly.
driveviper.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post
I don't care what thread any post is in, I look at the threads that appear interesting to me. If we were talking about a new forum software, I would suggest that people starting threads could choose tags such as "Track" "Gen V" "Modifications" that users who care could use to decide on whether they would be interested.
There's numerous folks involved in decisions of this nature. It takes time for volunteers to focus their attention and develop a plan and consensus. So when I write that I'm listening, that's exactly what many people are doing. Personally, I've been discussing the concern with others to find a viable alternative to moving SOME GenV threads to the track section. You should note that all those threads that you like to designate (self-servingly) as "REMOVED" are actually "moved" and have a permanent redirect thread left in the GenV area. We do not want a forum, similar to the present VCA, with 50+ vacuous sub-forums, where you need to drain your mouse battery to scroll endlessly to find a particular section. It's already been noted that a simple "search" will get you to your GenV area only thread even if moved. The "new posts" tab will achieve the same result.
Is it your nature to be so unaccepting of differing opinions? Why all the angst over forum post guidelines? Think you forgot to put "absurd" in caps to better your dogmatic nature.
Anyway, there's no conspiracy here and no data searching for the word "track" so we can relegate GenV posters to the "track area dungeon", stripping posters of all their forum popularity. One can just as easily argue for and against moving all the threads that have been moved (which, BTW, might amount to 25 or so over our entire forum's existence). We'll find a compromise to work this out. Maybe just take a moment to remember this is a community forum where everyone is trying to work together to maintain our community of Viper adoration. As my daughter likes to say ... chillax!

I don't want to speak for another owner but maybe his frustration is a big part of what bothers me, you even touched on it that only certain threads gets moved or at least a small number do. I feel almost like they get cherrypicked or like you said they don't have tags associated with them. I'm addicted to the track and it bothered me a thread I was in was moved so it's pretty easy to assume that if I was a dedicated track crazed Viper addict like AZ Vipers and several of my threads had been moved I would be pretty upset so I can understand AZ Vipers frustration. I would also start to think Moderators would probably realize a lot of his posts are about the track so it's pretty simple to look at his threads and if they involve the track to move them. That would bother me to see my threads moved but not others and I would feel less inclined to post and share very important feedback and information. There are numerous threads about the drag strip, or simply dyno results that seem to me to be less of general Gen V contributions. I think more owners track their cars vs. some of these high HP mods or Drag Strip times/record members, but I WANT to see those threads and I think other members do or at least should because those have driven me to mod my car! It is very beneficial to me to have other members post first hand feedback so I can make my own decisions and in addition I like to hear from Vendors about their new mods or systems too. I know these things take time and I appreciate you listening and hopefully making changes.

For the record, if anyone asks and has a definitive, intelligent reason why any post should be moved to any sub-forum (or back to a former sub-forum), we'll happily move it. But such a reason should not be solely for purposes of assuming a thread would be more popular.
Oh and BTW, unlike the other mods and admins, I have made a few mistakes here over the years.

In your sentence above, I think the word "popular" should be replaced with the word "informative". Then it would make even more sense to keep informative topics in the more visited Gen 5 forum.
In reality, the majority of Gen 5 information and posts can also be used by Gen 4 and Gen 3 cars....and to some extent Gen 2.
The mods here do a very good job of keeping this mini asylum in check....but occasionally the patients do come up with some good advice to keep the party going.

Isn't popular/informative what we are here for? I see this board as a big tool to connect Viper owners/enthusiasts from around the world and sharing popular/informative topics, information and tips with each other to grown the activity with, enjoyment of and desire for our vehicles.
I'm just adding my 10 cents
