    Weird Start Issue

    Hey all,

My Gen 3 Viper is having an issue starting. I push the start button in and it doesn't do anything (no crank, no nothing, just quiet). BUT...if I continue to hold the button for 30 seconds to a minute eventually it fires up. Usually if the car is warm, it does not have this issue and starts right on pushing the button. Seems to be a cold start issue.

I was going to replace the start button first, but wanted to get some suggestions. I'm leaning towards it not being the starter because it's not cranking. The battery was replaced a month ago.

    Thanks!

May want to do a continuity check on the button first...
May want to look at relays as well.

Bump for any other ideas before I pay to buy a new button as a first test. Been lazy with winter to do anything yet.

Lots of possibilities if it is electrical. Save your money, remove the start button, jump the two wires in the plug and do a start to see if it is the problem.

FYI for anyone else that has this issue, it was the clutch interlock switch that was bad. Could have rewired/disabled it but put in a new one.

Glad you got it fixed and great that you posted your fix if anyone else has similar issues.

Blown ASD Fuse also has similar characteristics - but once it's blown - the Viper will not start like your's was.

Did anyone else get a recall notice for this part?
