    Name that part

Was torquing down the Gen V intake last night and saw this. I did not to the intake swap or have any pictures of my engine bay prior to the swap so I am not sure if I am missing a hose or cap or if this nipple is supposed to be exposed like this.

Can anyone shed some light on what this is and what it is for and if I am missing anything?

For bleeding the coolant, it's normal.

Man, I sure wish I had something like that to look at under the hood of my Gen II. You Gen III guys have all the cool doo-dads.

It's a fitting used for bleeding the air out of the coolant system. Nothing is supposed to be attached to it. You didn't forget anything. GM's have up to four of those on some cars. LOL. I wish I had one on my 96!!! It would make life easier sometimes.

That's what you use to burp the system when you flush it (bleed the air out) which is the highest point the coolant can reach.
