Veteran s Day Thank You Gift

For several years now, PartsRack has offered a 'Thank You' gift on Veterans Day to active and retired US Military.

If you are/were military, you likely know what MWR is.....Back in 2002, the USAF-MWR at Luke AFB produced a Challenge Coin (All Military will know these coins.) The bronze coin has a SRT Viper on one side, and an F-16 Viper, or the USAF Thunderbirds, on the other. "VIPER VS VIPER" is the header. This commemorates the Team Viper drag-races against the F-16 as covered by Ripleys Believe It Or Not. (Search Ripleys web site for video!)

If yould like to have one, simply post here a brief acceptance. And Share your MOS if you care to.

Then EMAIL ME YOUR MAILING ADDRESS and Branch and Viper owned: JonB@PartsRack.com.

Ill ship you a coin next week. No Charge. Please, 1 per customer in your lifetime. These are in VERY short supply and are already 16 years old !

Above all, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.

    JonB ex-USAFR

Thanks Jon for supporting the military (have my coin from many years ago). Now for us old timers asking for our MOS is really scrambling memories. I remember the training but no recall whatsoever of the MOS code for it. You do realize it is well over 40years ago for some of us!

    This is an awesome gesture!
I was Navy, so we didn't use MOS. But my rating was AW2 (Aviation Anti-Submarine Warfare Operator E-5). I served from 1987-1997 in VP Squadrons 11, 30 and 47, finishing my Naval career in Barber's Point Hawaii. I was proud to serve and would do it all again if given the chance.

No need to send me a coin, save them for those who retired and really deserve them.

    Hi Jon,

Thank you so much for your incredible gesture to Veterans. Proud AF Veteran here. I served from 5Aug85- 30Mar93 as Air Traffic Control Radar Maintenance E-6 (30371). And as ntw0rk stated, I would go in again in a heartbeat if I was able to. Miss it and the camaraderie that went along with it. I never meet a stranger when it comes to Veterans. We will always be brothers in arms no matter which branch they served in.

And Thanks to all for your service as well. Keep em flying and Keep It Flying.

    TOXIC, my Flight-Surgeon Optometrist Trivia:

Waaaay back in '67 at ScottAFB I had my first flight physical. I was the last guy of 30 off the bus, and last in line (tallest) thru the process. I got an extra squirt of eye dilator because I was last, and also my eyes were dilating slowly. [The optometrist as well as the bus driver and 30 guys wanted to get to lunch. I was the hold-up.] My eyes sprang open as if on cocaine, and stayed that way for about 16 horrible hours! Loaner DARK Sunglasses. That afternoon were written exams that I could not even see to take. I had 20-15 vision back then.... but not THAT day!

You're right.... never wanted to go back unless ordered.

Jon, If the offer still stands, I served in the AF as an AGE (Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic - 45451 AFSC). Enjoyed my time but also glad I decided to get out after four years. I need to update my address with you however. Hope all is well! Tim
