Track Guys what do you use to protect the paint I ve seen other threads but

What is preferred? I've obviously tried blue painters tape, I recently tried Trak Tape but parts kept flying off during the weekend. I've heard of a roll on product called Road Warrior, I guess there is new clear Plasti Dip and a few other products. What has worked best for you guys?

Clear bra. I'll probably have the front of my car redone in the next couple of months after a year of track days.

Has it actually held up? In the previous threads I've read people say the clear bra alone isn't enough. I'd be happy to have it done once and not have to apply something every track weekend.

I'll let you know when I take it off. So far, most of the nicks and marks do not appear to have penetrated the plastic. They look bad, but my experience is that when the clear bra is removed the paint will be fine.
There are some water soluble products, but I don't know many who have used them.

A good thing to do is nano coat the vehicle over the film. Adding a very slick "clear coat like" coating over the film only adds to the protection, makes cleaning easier, bug guts slide off faster while also helping the film edges stay smooth. To my surprise, my entire 17 X5M is covered panel to panel including the roof. Glad the 1st owner took that job on with his 5k miles before trading her. I will do the nano coating just to increase film longevity and make cleaning much faster.

Small bubbles and pitting looks like it will have hit the paint but usually wont break through the film. It usually takes a good stone chip but it will still make any damage more likely to be smaller or fixable. Film is a must for any track enthusiast IMO; ideally with additional nano coating.

I used Trak tape too and it did come loose in most places so I prob wont use that again. I have the font of my car wrapped in expel and i didnt get any bad places that penetrated the film. Plus i have a friend with a GTR that has his entire car wrapped and he tracks a rediculous amount of time and his looks fine so I think expel will take care of it IMO.

I use the Road Warrior Paint Protection system and it works great. It is much thicker/sturdier than any "spray on" system, since you roll it on with a small paint roller. Spray can systems don't have as much "solids" since it has to go through the rattle can nozzle. It holds up great for track days (two coats) and pretty much stops most stone chips. I'm sure it doesn't work as well as a clear "bra" type of system, but you can remove it anytime by hosing it down with water. I pretty much leave it on through racing season, then remove it. It goes on opaque white, then drys clear. It gets kind of a matte looking texture from the roller, but looks reasonably good if you take your time applying (e.g. straight lines/ masking). A gallon of the stuff will last you a very long time, even if you remove it after every event.

The biggest advantage that I see, is that it is cheap compared to more permanent systems, and you don't need any professional equipment to apply. Comes off easily and you can apply it the day before you go to the track in your garage.

Great info! I’m looking for a DIY type covering and a roll or spray on would be great. Trak Tape was a PIA to apply then to deal with coming off.

    Xpel ultimate works really well.

If I were you, I'd worry about the windshield. Mine is pretty much done...sandblasted all over. Use Clearplex windshield film.

Yep, so is mine! I need that for the next windshield, but I didn't remember what it was called.

XPel on my 14 and Suntech on my ACR. Happy with both, but XPel appeared to be slightly thicker.
