Went to the drag strip yesterday

Went to the track yesterday with some Viper guys, ran a best of 11.354@126 with DA's around 1700. Stock car with Corsa's. Unfortunately the track wasn't prepped until after 3pm at which point they wouldn't let you run unless you had drag radials or slicks.

Looks good to me...Corsas seems to be a pretty good balance between street and strip.

I have never been to the dragstrip in either of my Viper's but all of the times people post make me realize these cars must be a lot harder to launch then I thought. I did run my SRT10 Ram and consistently ran mid to high 12's, my best two runs were coincidentally my last two runs, 12.636 and a 12.635 @ 110.5mph. While I realize that's not a staggering time but it was in a 5,200 lb. truck with a basically stock GenIII engine with exhaust and bolt-ons. Never mind the extra HP you would think the weight difference alone would be nipping at 10.99. Can't wait until next year, I'm definitely getting this thing to the track.... Hopefully I won't come home disappointed.

Hey Danny, it was really nice meeting you too. It’s too bad you had to leave, weather was perfect at the track. You’ve got my number so let me know anyone you want to hang out.

Has anyone ever posted a "How To" for launching a Viper? I suck at drag racing, usually I'm in the 12s. What rpms? Slip the clutch?
Launch control? What do I need to do to get a better time?

Nine-ball has a post somewhere on his website on how to launch the Viper.

Great runs. I wish mine was running properly so I could make some passes (and that they didn't make me leave for wearing shorts). This is Gabe, btw. Great meeting you all at C&C. We'll have to do it again for sure.

Hey Gabe, it was definitely nice meeting you. We should hang out when time permits since we live in the same county. Yeah, it kinda sucked that your car wasn't running right. Did you get it fixed it yet?

First you want to lower tire pressure to at least 25lbs, you can go lower if you're still not hooking but don't go too low. Lower tire pressures will hinder your trap speed. Do a burnout to warm up the tires. Once you're staged, put it in first and hold the rpms to 3000-3500. Slip the clutch when you're ready to launch. But don't let it off until you feel it catch traction 100%. Hope this helps.
