Opinions or recommendations for a set of Street Track tires

I recently switched from NT01's to the R888R's on my GTR that only see's the track. I can confidently say that the new R888R's are a better tire than the NT01's and the NT01's are a great tire. In actuality, the R888R's are more of an upgraded version of the NT01 as opposed the R888.

Once I wear through the R888's on my ACR, I will be replacing them with the R888R's.

R888's have been the best tire I've ever had on a vehicle. Tons of grip, lots of feedback, very progressive at the limit, and come to temp very quickly. People always talk about tire noise and I honestly think its another one of those things that people just repeat blindly without actually experiencing it. I've never "heard" tires in a Viper in my life. Maybe I'm deaf, maybe I'm just driving instead of listening to tire roar?

I have the new R888R on the way for my gen 5 right now.

This what I was very curious about. I've never heard a tire on on a viper except on the track with the window town, but certainly not on the street, What type of mileage are you getting out of a set of Toyos?

Because you're asking about the Corsa instead of P-Zero I assume by "normal" you might mean driving back and forth to track days as well as weekend fun and maybe some touring? If so, I did 6000 miles on a set which included 6 road course days. At that point I replaced the fronts and carried on with the rears for a little longer (probabably another two track days).

Thanks for the replies. Yea mainly regular driving, I occasionally will do a track day/weekend, maybe only once or twice a year.

kinda funny regular Pzeros only lasted 12k on the mustang rear, never been fond of the regular pzero since. Surprising a 60 treadwear tire can last that long on a car like this. Getting a set of sidewinders with mildy used corsas soon. Deciding whether to go with pilot super sports or stick with corsas for the next set. I dont think I'll get near the 20-25k miles a set of PSS tend to last before the 5-6 year mark

Or maybe when brand new, the noise isn't nearly as bad (I'm hoping that's true) AND Houston has really nice, well maintained roads.
When I was driving the R888's and I was lucky enough to hit a patch of nice/smooth road.. yea it instantly got more quite and stopped tramLining.

Slap on a set of new Invo's, and even on sucky SoCal roads the smoothness and sound diff is amazing. On nice/smooth roads, feels like a Cadillac.
They let you hear everything going on in the engine bay and the harmonic overtones of that sweet exhaust.

I can answer that.
~10K miles, which is a lot. Other Vipers drivers I know around SoCal say they're lucky if they get 6K miles on R888's. Perhaps due to the road conditions I'm whining about.

I don't believe you'll find a PSS for the front. You can get a PS2 in 295/30/18 and its tread pattern is virtually identical to the PSS. The compound on the PS2 is grippier. They also no longer make a PS2 for the rear.

yea people had go to 285/35/18 and 345/30/19 for PSS sizes, but still should be better than pirelli poop zeros. They are universally hated on stang forums for their lack of grip and fast wear life.

I have run the PS2 295/30/18 in the front and PSS 345/30/19 in the rear on my ACR. Ran them on the One Lap of America this year. They work well.

wish they made continental Extreme Contact Sport tires in viper sizes as another option for us. PS4S ive read are an evolutionary upgrade over PSS - similar dry grip, greater wet traction, and greater treadwear over PSS, but the Conti ECS tires are on par with PSS grip but a lot cheaper than PS4S. I honestly think Conti ECS is the way to go considering their price compared to PS4S and Conti's 60 day try it trial period.

funny.. on another one of my cars i have the exact opposite impression. i liked the pzeros better than the pss..weird. although i feel the pzero corsa is superison to them all. might give the psc2 a shot.. put i like the corsa system so much im not sure i feel the need. my only wish is the corsas lasted a bit longer... but thats an ongoing thing like horsepower (is it ever enough)

The stock front tire size for a Viper is 295/30/18 or 295/25/19 if an ACR not 285/35/18. A 285 with less tread width will cause a bit more understeer.

PSS are known to run oversized, plus the rear is reduced by 10mm also to 345. Compound on PSS should be way better than pzero so overall grip should still be better
