    Tire Mount Balance recommendations in AZ

    Finally got a new set of Michelin PSS's for my 05' to replace the original tires. Wondering if you guys recommend any installers in the east valley area? I was going to take them to my local Discount Tire but I'm not sure if I need to be more cautious due to the size or the rear wheels?

    I have taken all of my high end stuff to Wheel Specialists in Tempe. Never had an issue with them. When they are busy they have referred me over to Ralph at Camarena Tire on Broadway and his guys have also done good work for me.

    shouldn't be an issue. I've mounted plenty of those for local guys. You're gonna love the PSS too!

    I had Discount Tire by San Tan mall mount and balance my PSS's last year on my 01.

    +1 for Discount Tire by San Tan Mall. Had mine mounted last year...absolutely no issues.

    Alright I might give discount a shot then since I bought the tires from them online. Only reason I'm hesitant is the cost but I'll get a quote before hand.

    should be in the $20-25 ea range. But guessing they'll want $35-40

    Scott at Arizona Tire Pros in Mesa has taken very good care of my Viper and her tire needs over the years.

    Seems that many of the discount chains have 1 goto guy for unique tires. Had discount tire in cave creek and big o tire off McDowell do perfect work for my viper tires.

    They did mine for $60 total, and I didn't buy the tires from them. I have spent thousands of dollars with them over the years so that may make a difference.

    Yeah I've only had great experience with discount. I think they see the car and immediately have different protocol than they would for a Camry with hubcaps.

    They are car guys so because we aren't snobby owners they always have treated me cool. I go to the one off of Scottsdale road north of the 101 now. They take great care of me. Wheel Specialists is just far!

    The ones in Scottsdale see nice cars all the time too. Ey would shut down if they were messing up factory wheels on the reg on Scottsdale type cars.

    I would make an appointment, tell the dude to put his best guy on it and give him a 20 for the tech. That's what I do and I get treated really well

    I ended up going to the Discount Tire at SanTan. Didn't have any issues at all. Found out the car has TPMS but didn't bother replacing the sensors/batteries, not even sure where in gauge cluster I'm supposed to see pressure readings if it were working. Anyway thanks for the recommendations! I attempted to hit the wheels with some Mother's polish but the polish doesn't seem to do much. Is there some type of coating on the factory Gen 3 wheels? Normally the aluminum polish will turn black.

    they are Alcoa Dura-bright finish I thinks it's called. Google that.

    Anybody know of a place that can repair the Dura-Bright finish?

    yea, once it gets to that part, not much can do. Totally re-strip it, polish it. Not worth it to fix for all that trouble. It can be "touched up" with hyper-paint, but it will NOT look right, just less noticeable. May also try scuffing it and then polish, but again, will still be noticeable between transitions of finish.
    It's not too bad when on the lip area, but on the face of the wheel, not so much.
    btw, that's not chemical damage. That's where someone tried to sand down through some "dings" in the face and made it worse.

    Any recommendations on how and what to strip it with? What about polishing it?

    before you spend hours, money stripping it. try wet sanding it some with some 2000 just in that area. Not a lot, just some. Then hit with polish. May even try that NeverDull stuff in a can. They key would be to not get it too shiny. That is what will make it pop more than rest of wheel.
    The clear is already gone from that area, but try the least damaging process first.
