Question Are heat waves from the hood vents normal

    Hello,

Dumbest question of the day, so forgive me or thank me for the laugh.

I just purchased my first Viper a week ago. I've noticed a lot of heat coming from the engine bay, to the point where there are heat waves coming from the vents that. Kind of like a mirage on the road, if that makes sense. Also, once I park my car in the garage, I walk back into the garage an hour later and the entire garage has an elevated temperature.

The temp gauges are usually right at 200 degrees, so that seems pretty normal.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Shawn

I find this to be one of the cars coolest “features.” However, to answer your question it is perfectly normal.

Yes I can heat my whole garage after a quick run!!! It's amazing how hot they get that's why I like the SRT hood with the six vents....I have the habit of opening my hood after I drive it to cool it faster....Plus like you said it heats up the garage...

If you ever get to Le mans, France for the Le mans 24hrs, the weather can be somewhat wet from year to year, the Viper makes a great towel and clothes dryer while camping

    And the prerfect garage heater

And if you are wondering, Yes the engine was running, and when the fan kicked in We had other campers asking if they too could dry their towels Putting on a dry pair of hot Jeans was heaven at a damp Le mans

    Lol @ Fatboy.

My car in the summer would make walking into the closed garage stroke-worthy. It's nice around this time of year

Only heat wave in Scotland this year was from my Gen 4 engine bay vents.

Makes you see why those vents are there.

If they weren't, it would have nowhere to go. The gen IV hood has bigger vents so it allows some more heat out or allpws it to escape more easily, depending on how you think of it. I may replace mine for that reason and looks.

    But yes, totally normal
