    Gen V Weight Reduction

I've been looking for a weight reduction thread and can't find one, so I figured it start one to try to get all of the info in one place. I'd like to get stock weights plus weights of mods if you have them.

    Examples like
Stock SW2s: Fronts: 18.42 lbs, Rears: 22.91 lbs
Stock exhaust vs Titanium exhaust - 42lbs
Stock Battery vs light weight battery -26lbs
Stock seats 51lbs vs light weight seats
Tilton triple disk clutch - 25lbs
    Cargo tray: - 4.6 lbs
    Air pump: - 4.6 lbs
    Lug nuts: - 1.3 lbs
    Nth Moto triple Disk: -14lbs
Stock Mufflers vs Aluminized Straight pipes: -22 lbs
    Sidewinder II Wheels F/R: 18.4 lbs/22.92 lbs
    Venom Wheels F/R: 24.3 lbs/28lbs
    Rattler Wheels F/R: 26.2 lbs/29.3 lbs
    ACR Wheels F/R: 26 lbs/27.8 lbs
    Stock 1 Piece Rotors F/R: 26.5 lbs/24.4 lbs
    Stoptech 2 Piece Rotors F/R: 17.8 lbs/17.8 lbs

I'm wondering if it's possible to get a Gen V to 29xx lbs?

    Thoughts??

For weight savings the DSE products offered are 8lb battery kit (save 25+ lbs), and titanium lug nuts (save about 1.3lbs). For an ACR the aluminum splitter support brackets save another 0.8 lb.

I believe the 42lbs on exhaust is going from stock to full catless titanium setup, but I could be wrong.

Seats, no I haven't seen anything specific

Tilton Triple Disk Clutch.. Ill edit that

The IPSCO Underdrive Pulley is lighter than stock, I can't remember how much less though.

The Nth Moto triple carbon will save you 14lbs over the factory setup.

It would be nice to see a serious reduction on the G5 a la Rennlist 911R thread. I dont think anyone here would want to see the price tag on those parts though LOL. With someone like RL it would be possible but that wont be in the G5's future.

Are the CCB's lighter than the Stoptech big brake set? Will be tough finding much unsprung weight to lighten without resorting to machining new parts. 2900lbs will be hard without that kind of approach on a streetable Viper. Lightest I've read on here is someone claiming 31xx lbs. That's pretty awesome for a street Viper.

going from stock rotors to the stoptech 2 piece like what comes on the 2014+ GTS or track package saves about 30#. But if you have a TA, those rotors are heavier than stoptech for better braking on that model.

If memory serves me right, they are around 15-20 lbs, depending on added padding. I have sat in them and driven them and they are unusually comfortable given that you are basically sitting on Carbon Fiber.

    Carbon Bellypan
    Lexan rear widow
    Lighter wheels

You can only go so far with a street car. If its track only then you have many options.

We had one race car that we could not put on a diet, so the driver lost 40 pounds!

Realistically, that's what I'd have to do. I'm usually around 265lbs. Every race team I'm on, I'm the heaviest, usually by a lot. Last team, I was 40lbs heavier than the next heaviest driver, and 100lbs heavier than the lightest..... It's a mystery I'm even competitive.

A/C delete because who needs A/C?
That'll save you a bunch of weight.

On a track car it doesn't help too much.

No, it's not anywhere near that. The VE titanium exhaust is just the back half that's inside the side sills. He's talking about the Agency Power setup that's from the header back and it does indeed save 42 lbs.

A/C delete doesn't do much. I did it. The compressor, condenser and all lines weighed about 18 lbs. I was amazed. Everything on this car is extremely lightweight.

My car was 2990 before removed A/C, side windows and added the dry sump and aero.
It's at about 3070 now with 90 lbs of ACR aero added and the dry sump

You should put an itemized sticky together, it would be invaluable. A very nice end result.

It would be nice to have a sticky on this topic for sure. I would recommend though that every weight saving idea should include, in addition to the actual weight saved, the cost of the mod and the difficulty of installing the mod. For example, the IPSCO underdrive pulley may save a couple of pounds but it is really easy to install and costs about $150. It also reduces rpms on the accessories when pushing the motor to high rpms which is another benefit. I assume the lithium ion battery is easy to install, saves some 25 pounds, and costs what $800 or so? Titanium lug nuts would be real easy to install, save 1.3 pounds but I don't know how much they cost.

What about the other items? Titanium exhaust, SWIIs, etc. With a good list people could look at the cost/benefit of each idea.
