I went back to Kennedy Space Center and ran my 2010 Viper down the space shuttle runway again on Sept 23rd. Got there early and did a few 1/2 mile shakedown runs with the other cars there that included a Saleen S7, Lamborghini Aventador, Murcielago, a heavily modified Mercedes, a Ford GT, and others. Half mile runs went quick and we moved back from the timing lights to do the mile runs. I ran a quick NA trip down the mile, can't really remember the exact speed but somewhere close to 178/9 or so. My best 1 mile trip in the previous event was 181+ MPH. Next runs I decided to try some nitrous so we sprayed a small shot toward the very end of a few runs and managed a 189.9 MPH. This was the fastest run in the mile of the cars that were there that day. I think it had a little more in it but it was my first experience with nitrous and I was being overly conservative and cautious. After we finished up the mile runs we backed up further and were basically at the end of the runway launching just a few feet away from where the grass starts. This is approx. 2.3 miles from the timing lights now. I had done some 2 miles runs in Feb that were all NA and my best was 200.472 MPH. I again did some NA runs and broke 200+ fairly easily even with passengers which included my wife, " come on babe, get in and I will do a conservative run ". Now in my defense I felt it was conservative since we only did 200.4 MPH. After that I tried some nitrous runs, turning it on for last 10 seconds or less of the runs, it made zero difference in speeds. The car was pretty much maxed out in RPMs and gears so there was no more speed to be had. My best run was 200.588 and calculating the transmission gears ( 5th ), the differential gear ( 3.21 ) and the 355/30/19 rear tires the max speed that the car is theoretically capable of is 201.4 MPH so I feel I got all it had considering there was a crosswind, it was raining in the mid section of the runway and we missed a bird by inches on one run. I was 3rd fastest of the 2+ mile runs behind a 207 from the Aventador and 205 from the Ford GT. We were the only cars over 200 that day. Now I'm planning a third trip back on Dec 16th to hopefully break 200 in the mile. My plan is to go back to 3.07 differential gears, maybe do some aero work on the nose and see if that's enough to get it there. Then hopefully it will maybe break 205-210 in the 2+ mile runs. I will post some pictures and videos when I get a chance.
