    Removing the Sills

    There have been some questions about removing the sills, there are two hidden bolts that attach the sill/rocker to the upper body panel. You have to remove the screws in the front side of the rear wheelwell liner and then pull it back and out so you can get access to the hidden fasteners.

    Here are some pics of those fasteners. I also added some insulation above and to the back of the exhaust outlet. The areas protected by the added insulation denoted by the pattern, shield the bulkhead to the cabin. The seat is directly behind the insulation.

    What kind of insulation are you using, for sound as well?

    I found the hardest part of getting the sill off to be the wheel well, pulling it back. Any tips for making that easier?

    Once all the screws from the front of the wheelwell liner are removed, the liner is flexible enough that if you push it towards the inside while pulling the sill outward, you can get the two separated, you can then pull the liner back and out.When I say out, I mean you can get the two separated by a couple of inches, the liner is still fastened at the rear of the wheelwell. I put a piece of wood in the gap to keep the two apart. You also want to remove all other fasteners from the sill before you try to separate the sill from the liner, this allows you more space between the liner and the sill at the bottom edge.

    As far as insulation, the pic shows the same DEI tunnel wrap that I used on the airbox. If you just want sound deadening, use the Summit brand sound deadening product, it has a different purpose and costs less. It is far denser than the tunnel wrap.

    @ jan B, thanks for the pic and description. I was trying to push the liner more than necessary. Managed to get my arm through with a 10mm flex head ratcheting open-end wrench to remove the nuts. Wonder if it would have been easier to install the bolt and nuts upside down.

    Thank you so much for posting this. I want to add some more insulation on the panel for before xpel goes on, I got stuck on these last two fasteners.

    Took me a few minutes to gain confidence to push inwards hard enough on the center part of the wheel well while pulling out from the bottom working my way up. Got the first panel off and it came with a bunch of free stones. I can start a xen garden now.
