I drove a shifter cart this spring for the first time. Holy crap. They are crazy fast and violent. Serious fun.

I see its case fed, do these use reeds or a rotary valve, it might be a stupid question, but I know very little about carts.

Then you co find actual crazy people like Darryl W. He has a R1 Yamaha engine with Turbo and Nitrous on it. Easy 9sec quarter miles without the nitrous or turbo. He has the "Worlds fastest landspeed record for a Go kart" with that. He also went 155mph at the Mojave Mile in California (video on the MM website).

I did turn down the offer to run 150+mph in his cart as I feel much safer going 215mph in my TT GTS. I enjoy driving my Roe GTS to the event and running 180mph in the mile as well. I doubt that carts are as much fun as my 2 Vipers

Darryl also bought one of the totally insane (banned?) rocket powered Go carts that has 2 rockets on it. Saw a tiny laydown cart at Edm Int Raceway "back in the day" that looked like it had a Hercules rocket for thrust. Lit off for less than half the quarter mile it coasted to a 7 sec pass. "Too rough" he said ...

Insanity! Love my 800 and 1500hp Vipers best my friends

Thanks for posting this though. One of my Seattle Viper buddies son runs motorcycle engine carts in Wash and he wins often

You can buy a brand new TAG" turn key" kart for $4,950. This is with a PRD 125cc motor..
