    Unhappy heartbroken desperate totalled my 06 vert and need some help from our community

    Hi guys, fellow enthousiasts. I don'tknow where to start but I need to write something so I do not loose my mind. I hope to find some support amongst my Viper buddies as except for my wife nobody seems to understand me. It feels like they ripped out my heart and crushed it!

    First a picture of the car:

    20967910_1800722319943393_188306763_o.jpg

    what hapened. It was raining a lot while driving on the far most right lane on the highway here in Belgium as some idiot with a Fast and Furious tuned rices overtakes me and cuts into my lane much to close. I didn't want to hit him so I hit the brakes , startet spinning and hit te metal barriers on the road side. The rest is history. Car had a KW V3 suspension and non runflat tyres. It was pure aquaplanning as we call it here. The car got lifted up and I lost all traction.

    The ricer continued it ways so we don't have any info on this guy. So it won't be Insurance but all out of my own pocket. Cops and ambulance came to the scene and one cop had its explaination already made. Fast car so probably excesive speed so I had to do alcohol and drug tests ... He kind of laught with the entire situation.

    the autistic part of my brain can't handle the empty spot in my garage next to my 92 and 01 RT/10. So I immediately took the parts catalog to see what I might be looking at but I fear it is a total loss. Engine and gearbox and interior are fine I think. Will try to pick up the remain from the towing company 150 miles from me in the next couple of days.

    Now I need your HELP if possible. I came across this one:

    [URL="https://www.exotic-motors.com/2006-dodge-viper-2dr-convertible-srt10-c-750.htm[/URL]

    VIN = 1B3JZ65Z96V101796

    Anyone that knows this car of this dealer/company? Anyone that can checkout the car for me. I am very interested in buying this one as it has almost same mileage, vin is a few numbers later as mine and i love this color. Here in Belgium with new regulations it is almost impossible to get a car like this registered. So if I buy this one I already have all the papers!

    Thanks for listening to my story! Oh yes as a real die hard Viper fanatic I almost forgot to tell that my wife and I are ok. Just a few bruises and scratches. I needed a few stitches above my left eye as one part of the softtop frame broke and hit me.

    regards from Belgium, Roland

    Wow, How fast? Glad your OK!

    Roland,

    I feel your pain. Glad you and the wife are OK. Hydroplaning can occur without warning. Cars can be fixed or replaced. Unfortunately I can't help with exotic autos. Maybe give yourself a couple days/weeks to get settled and then decide what's next. Good luck and heal quickly.

    Holy Shit, Wow I hope you find the guy with the ricer He may start talking on the forums so I would check the ricer forums. If he cut you up and caused you to break then he is responsible for the accident and he has fled the scene. Did the motorway have any cameras? They may be able to trace him leaving an exit ramp?

    Really sorry to see this Glad you are OK, But I too feel your pain! I have aquaplaned with the Toyo R888s Its scary and I was really lucky with my old Cobra replica aquaplaning across 5 lanes of a Motorway! Luckily I did not hit anything on either occasion. It also happened to my friend totaling his 430 Ferrari Spyder.

    Best wishes on your new quest.
    Mark, England.

    Well typicaly for Belgium. the Police said no other cars are part of the crash, no witnesses so investigation is closed. They concluded that if you drive a sportscars like that with some serious power you probably would have driven too fast!

    Here, the underinsured or uninsured part of your own policy would apply. Not in Belgium ?

    Roland, Glad to know that you and your wife are ok. As Mark mentioned, hopefully there were some cameras in the area. As far as Exotic Motors, I have heard both good and indifferent reviews regarding the cars they have for sale. As with any remote purchase, I would reach out to some of our members in the Chicago area to go check out the car for you and just let the dealer know that sale is pending their inspection. Good luck on your search and take care.

    Here it does not apply. My insurence does not pay for the car. they do pay for towing and fixing the road barriers. Health insurence takes the hospital costs. But once fixed up in the hospital they said that's it and you are all alone out on the street.

    Well, it sounds like you and your wife are OK and walked away so glad to hear you're OK. Maybe it's Belgium-speak but did you meant to type "passes me" vs. "overtakes me"? One sounds like racing and the other doesn't. In the states when people say they "overtake" someone it's usually somewhere on a isolated highway in Mexico. Be careful as insurance companies tend to read the internets these days when investigating claims and they can misconstrue words to their advantage.

    We say "overtake" in the UK, overtake can be any speed from 2 mph to ..........200 + We do not really use the word "Passes"

    Sorry to hear this.

    Agree, plus/minus reports on that Chicago broker.

    Car has had 4owners per Carfax, stolen?, auction, etc.

    For similar money, there are two different low mileage 2003 black Vipers for sale in our Region. One was just posted in classifieds.

    My condolences on your car. I would be devastated
    as well. I try and avoid taking my car out in
    the rain at all costs for this exact reason.

    @Red Venom

    We started out journey with the sun as I drove the first 130km with the top down. Then it started raining cats and dogs like we call it here and all of a sudden this shower. It was like poured a 20ft container full of water over my car. the weather over here is not very stable. You need to enjoy every ray of sun.

    This is further support of Axiom #1 - "Never Drive it in the Rain".

    You survived practically unscathed and you're already on track to replace The Thing.
    This coulda been way worse.
    Ditto's to all of the above.

    Glad you and the wife are safe. I am curious, if you have a camera mounted and caught the guy cutting you off, would that have changed the situation with the insurance company? Either way they should be paying for the whole car. It's an accident regardless and that's why you pay them. I would get a lawyer and sue them. make them prove their case in court.
