In the UK we have different types of motor insurance.....
    It normally works like this.
Fully Comprehensive ......Meaning If you have an accident by yourself you are covered. and if you hit anyone else they are covered too.
Third Party, Fire and theft.....Insured for Fire and theft and if you hit someone then the insurance pays for their car. (But NOT yours).
    Third Party only.

And of course Classic / Supercar insurance "Agreed Value"The most expensive.

Not sure how it works in Belgium? Mabie Roland did not have the full insurance?

We have the same type of insurance over here as Fatboy says.

The fully compprehensive for a viper here is about 9.000€ yearly fee. For me out of the question as I have multiple Vipers. I have the third party fire and theft. A friend of mine had a Mclaren P1 and was insured on aggreed value and het paid 25.000€ each year for his 1.5 mio € car.

Ouch , I think many of us are now quite thankful for the Premiums we pay for our full coverage Insurance. I am just a bit over 1000 ( figured in Euros) for my coverage , so we have nothing to complain about in the United States compared to your premiums. Happy you and your wife are okay and I hope you the best in your search. If we get anything in I will make sure I contact you.

    Bill,

everything is pretty expensive here if you want to drive luxury or sports/special cars. For my 06 Viper the tax the first time a person put a license plate on it on it was 10800€. Yearly taxes to drive it around are 4100€ (since 2015 the system is changed and now yearly taxes are 8600€). The govenrment was so fair that all cars registered before the tax change are paying the old amount as they know that in the end everybody will be in the new system. If you have an accident and you buy a new car you need to register it and you will be in the new system. If you just buy another same rule applies ...
Do you now understand what I wrote you in my mail ;-)

? I wonder if you could register and Insure your car / cars in the United Kingdom? We pay nothing anywhere near those prices!!

12 months Road Tax for my 2000 GTS is 245.00 euros

12 months Fully Comprehensive insurance is around 600.00 euros with a market value on the car of around 53,500.00 euros
    (WITH ALL MODIFICATIONS DECLARED).

Those Belgium prices are crazy! It might be worth buying a cheap vacation home in England and using that address

Legislation/laws cover that. For driving with foreign plates you need to prove that you live at least 180 days/year on your address in the other country. You are not allowed to drive foreign plates when you have Belgian identity ... it is a real pain. They use car as cash cows for the government. Also on other domains normal hard working people are squeezed like lemons. Example: electicity ... people started looking at their electricity consumption and tried to save here and there or install solar panels. Now the government changed the rules because they have less income (gas/electricity/water companies are owned by our government). They increased VAT from 6% to 21%, transportation fees are doubled or trippled, people with solar panels pay high taxes as the government now sees them as producers and competition! And so many other domains and examples how they squeeze us out as lemons.

It is because of our youngest daughter who is 5 otherwise I would have moved to Switzerland or France as my grandmother was Swiss!

How can they just base that on assumption?
They only assume you've done something illegal, they cannot prove that.
Why not take it to court? There is no proof of you driving too fast.

nope there is no proof but who we can sue? Insurance company say not other parties involved so we do not pay a lawyer etc ... So I won't spent money on a lawsuit that has no or ??? outcome. I rather use that money to rebuild/replace my beloved SRT so my RT/10 are not so lonely anymore.

I did understand your note and if we hear of anything I will be in touch. Definitely is a tough situation in many of the European Countries and it makes those of us here in North America ( both the US and Canada ) pretty thankful things are not as restrictive here. If someone goes to look at this vehicle , have them do what Maurice Liang has suggested in his books for years --get the car on a lift. Also check the Carfax or Autocheck , but check while in the air is really a benefit for clarifying the car has been maintained well.

All I can say with Exotic Motors is to ensure to take car to an outside trusted mechanic for an in depth inspection. Flossmoor Family Auto is the place to take it. They know in's and out's of Vipers. People drive from hours away just to take their Viper there. They did right by me. Hope this helps. Sorry to hear about what happened

Sorry about your car Roland... when I had my Viper in Bahrain I had many close calls and the insurance we had to carry had so many "sucks to be you" clauses that I carried a hammer around just in case some smart azz was going to laugh at my car being damaged but his car was fine when he zoomed within inches of me just for fun... my plan was that ensure the he would share my pain with his car being messed up as well... man I had some close calls.

At least you and the wife walked away from the accident without issue... the car is replaceable but lives are not.

I would part out this car so you have replacement parts for your next new toy. Or you can always rebuild, import a frame and not a car so as to save on those import tariffs... New frame, you may be able to negotiate a little or tell him full price if he covers export fees and shipping charges... http://www.ebay.com/itm/DODGE-VIPER-...pWYfBZ&vxp=mtr

    That seriously sucks for you...
How badly damaged is it? As long as the frame is straight it shouldn't be too difficult.

    @ViperDC,

It is my cars twin sister :-) so it looks exactly the same. Yes Vipers are very rare over here and all three of my babies turn heads!

So sorry to hear about this awful & unfortunate wreck. The picture really puts things into perspective.. Viper wrecks are so hard to look at it, can't imagine it from your perspective. Just grateful the cabin didn't sustain the same type of damage the rest of the car seems to have. I hope that asshole who caused it will be identified sooner or later. Best wishes and good luck moving forward!

Car is purchased and will be shipped soon. Before it goes on transport to Europe it wil have a short stay at Doug Shelby Engineering ... The car will get 10 spokes with brand new Michelin tyres insteed of the H spokes and Doug will also install his closeout panel as the one I had was destroyed in the accident. I also ordered Stoptech ACR rotors as I Always wanted to have these on my car but I never ordered them as I first wanted to use my oem rotors (I bought my gen3 7 years ago with 1500 miles). I get so many help from our community to help me with parts, shipping etc ... glad to be part of this family.

The wrecked one is sleeping in my garage. I am tearing it apart and will soon start to clean and catalog all parts so I will have a warehouse full of parts for the new car!

I may have someone in the UK interested in the chassis and parts if it is not too badly damaged?

some updates. Beginning of december the car arrived in Germany. After a quick rundown on the car we found out that this car had a lot more flaws than I was told before I bought this one. So we are now taking it apart to be sure it is safe and solid on technical level. Nevertheless I am happy I get a replacement soon for my old 2006 vert.

The car will be converted to EURO lighting system (foglight integration at the rear) etc ... 3rd of January I will drive to my dealer in Germany to bring some parts of the old one like Transmission, differential, ... so we can complete this puzzle. At the same time we put in some upgrades likes 2pc Stoptech brakes, KW V3 suspension, DSE oil catch can, ... I hope to pick her up end of january.
