Need advice How will I fit

Looking at either Gen3 or Gen4 coupe. I had a Gen1 vert years ago, but lots of Mexican food since then has expanded the old waistline. Is one Gen better than another as it relates to accommodating a (ahem) "husky" frame? I'm 6'3" and 275lbs. I would really appreciate the advice. Thanks!

We have some sizable dudes in the club. Much depends on "height distribution"...i.e.long or short legs. Coupes can be problematic.

I would suggest you post location so that forum posters can guide you toward friendly Viper owners in your area so you can try to arrange a static fitting as a first step.

I agree with Steve 100%! Seeing that you are speaking Gen III / Gen IV I hope I am understanding your question correctly in regards to which Gen would fit you better. I've had both Gen's and I can assure you the interiors are virtually identical. Not sure if you are going to fit without the need of rubbing yourself down in butter every time you need to get in or out. No offense!

I would add that with your height that you consider one of the two available seat lowering kits (at least for the Gen III/IV). I'm 6'2" and opted for the 1" lowering kit (which still allows for modest seat movement fore & aft). There is also a 2" lowering kit, but it becomes a "fixed" seat. Great for headroom, but the only adjustments available to you at that point are the pedals. My reason for going with the 1" kit were mainly so I could actually sit low enough to see out of the car (I have a Gen IV coupe) - at stock height I couldn't hardly see below the roofline - the 1" drop did wonders for my comfort & visibility which has made the driving experience so much better (and safer!).

By the way, on the outside chance that you live in the Greater Indy area...give me a call.

    Colonel Ian, is that you?
Yeah, its you. I can tell by the green hood and stripes and I see iDinesen and not iNinesen.

Good advice on the lowering kit.

Glad to see you are still with us.

Don't wanna hi-jack thread. PM me sometime.

This makes me laugh,, whenever I am at a charity track day giving rides in my Gen II you can guarantee that most of the time I get the biggest dudes in the line that want to ride in my car!

Some of them barely fit and the 5 point harnesses are at max! You see them in the passenger seat with their Knees pressed up hard against the dash and their head tilted. but they all leave with smiles on their faces

    Best of luck Jaxsnake,

I'm similar in size, and maybe a biscuit lighter than you - lol. Gen 3 & 4 are identical and a tad smaller than the Gen 1. I have a vert, so it's a lot easier to get in and out. The seat lowering kits will help and you can also modify the existing seat rails to drop the rear of the seat. Also - the side seat bolsters can be "massaged out" (read bent out) so that they give you more room in the midsection.

Thanks for all the help! The seat lowering kits sound like the way to go. I was hoping that with the combination of adjustable pedals and the Gurney bumps on the coupe, that I might be able to fit in the coupe since I prefer that body style. Does the 2" lowering kit lock the seat in it's rearmost position? How far do the pedals adjust? I really don't want to give up on having the coupe and the idea of coating myself with butter sounds messy but fun..... BTW I'm in the San Antonio TX area.

I know this is an old post, I am 6' 320 big guy, tried the lowering kit and it was actually worse then the stock seat...I have a couple of hot rods and have had custom seats made when building them...took the viper to my upholstery guy and had the side and seat bolsters cut down a bit and some of the padding removed...that made a huge difference and no issues any longer...

I am 6'5" 190 and I had to get the 2" seat lowering kit or the vision was awful. The kit was well worth it and I think you should fit fine with the 1" lowering kit that is adjustable. The 2" kit is not adjustable but makes a night and day difference for me. (I am a little taller then you) so i'd check out the 1" seat lowering kit and you should be good to go.

The only other thing I can add is that I wouldn't be able to do a gen 3 because my legs are so long that without the seat lowering kit + adjustable pedals i'd kind of be in a tough situation. So I want to stress that the adjustable pedals on the gen 4 made a huge, huge difference in comfort.

Maybe I'm losing my mind but I thought my 06 coupe also had adjustable pedals, it's been a couple years since I sold it so maybe I'm confusing it with one of my SRT 10 Rams.
