Gen IV ACR Diffuser Fin Extensions

I'm wanting to add two rear diffuser fins, and then extend all 6 (after adding 2) so they are closer to the rear bumper. I love what DSE did with the Gen V kit they are producing, and would like to more or less do the same thing with my Gen IV. Does anyone have a place to start or a thought?

    Thanks!
    Nick

    Bad Ass nesss

I think its a trade off in "Bad-Assness".

    1. Diffuser Fins => Bad-Ass
    2. Seeing the width of those 345-355 back tires => Bad-Ass

    Maybe there's a happy Bad-Ass medium.
Like big Bad-Ass fins in the center and then they taper off a bit as they move towards the sides of the car.. so you can still see the Bad-Ass tires.

I plan to have access to a Gen IV soon to hopefully come up with something that offers a good solution without too much expense. Timeline depends on how complex it ends up being.

Did you get rid of your awesome orange/black gen iv ACR when you got the new one?

    That would be phenomenal.

The fins he posted don't appear to be any larger than the factory ones?

Any proof this benefits aero or is this just for "looks"?

I imagine it has to help a little bit as far as aero is concerned, however I'm really just interested because I like how it looks.

I was hoping for something more in the name of function which inevitably seems to produce awesome appearance as well.

Well, until they go on...it would be hard to know if it increases any performance.

I meant I was hoping for something a bit more extensive that follows diffuser design theory which of course would then need to be validated on track. There are some guidelines that have been developed over the years which have been proven to generally work.

I question how much you can really extend them out before they start to increase the overhang so much that they scrape. Heck even my stock ACR ones scrape on the street with the car being lowered about 1.7 inches.

    Completely understand.

My only worry would be scraping loading/unloading on the trailer. I don't drive mine on the street very often.

Diffusers are most effective when close to the ground amongst other factors. I'll guess the Gen IV diffuser doesn't have much function most of the time. This is why the Gen V ACR diffusers are wear items made of plastic. They will scrape at delivered ride height on certain bumps. If I would design something I would aim to make it functional, or at least more functional than the OEM piece.

Was not an ACR but yes it has gone to a good home with another local owner.

Exactly. That was my hope - a wear item for track days. Run it on the street if you're brave!

Ah, not sure what I remembered it as an ACR, awesome car either way.

I say IF because it isn't done yet. It might cost $3k or have design complications. I intend to just weary of the unknown.

Does make it hard to get on a trailer. Mine DEFINITELY scrape on the track. Kind of feel like they are almost wear items at LS.
