Description/special instructions:
Get ready for an extremely rare event! Our Vice President, Eddie and Vicky Taylor (both retired US Air Force), have pulled some strings and have allowed VOA members access to Lackland AFB. This is a very rare opportunity to be able to get inside the gates of this awesome facility. Our plan is to all meet in the visitor center parking lot and drive in together to the parade grounds. At the parade grounds is dozens of static displays of aircraft ranging from the P-38 Lighting all the way to the SR-71 Blackbird! If you have ever wanted to take a picture of your car next to the fastest spy plane on the planet (that we know of), this will be your chance! This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for civilians as base security is only getting tighter and tighter as years go by. While on base we can explore all the displays and take as many pictures as you like, we may also be joined by some professional photographers as well. The big treat is this will be the day after many airmen graduate so expect to have several recent graduates come out and check out the cars. This will be our chance to thank everyone for their service, encourage them on their new journey in the military and let them know just how much we appreciate them defending our freedoms every single day. I hope to get a big group picture of all the service men and women around or cars and their planes. We hope for it to be a fun event not only for all of us but for all of them too, the VOA way that we can Salute our Troops!
