I'll say this though, for those of us who are lucky enough to own a Viper (regardless of the generation), don't let it look that one. Drive the damn thing.
If you're an ACR owner, take it to the track where it belongs and stop babying it in hopes of selling it for a gazillion dollars 10 years from now.

Honestly, when I picked up my car I thought that it's almost too beautiful to risk it at the track but like the kids say: #YOLO!
Enjoy your snake and let her enjoy herself.

Back on topic, that attempt has been really cool. I contributed twice during the fundraising without expecting much of anything. I thought that they'd be able to crack 7:00 and do a high 6:50s but like many, I didn't really understand what trying to attempt a record at the ring meant. Looks like some gargantuan effort and just the fact that Russ and team managed to do a couple if 7:03 is a testament to their hard work and dedication.

So sad, when a Jay Leno or a Ron Howard or hell even a Tom Cruise (who is a Viper owner and owns the movie rights to the Carroll Shelby story), whoever, can just chip in to make it all happen for the good ole USA. Hell I bet Trump would out of his own pocket if someone approached him. He has much, much bigger things to worry about but he is all about America. Americans don't give up and American's don't quit. We find a way to win no matter what! Hell approach the Chinese suitor for FCA! They might help, just to prove a point that they care about FCA products enough to buy the company. Tough to do on such a tight schedule. I know you guys will pull it off.

Now I want to see a video of Ralph Giles getting into that car and driving the crap out of it to within an inch of it's life, inside that factory doing donuts and all, until the lights go out! With a big "thank you for 25 years" caption from Dodge at the end. And play that video on TV somewhere, like Velocity or something!

I find it a complete and utter disgrace at FCAs lack of respect nor thank you for all it did for it. At this point the car is dead, I will find myself a (left over new or used when the time is right) G5 to add to my mini collection but as far as Dodge and FCA, no longer interested in them or their products. They bring it back with a rendition true to it's name and nature then I will consider it and them but I think it is the end and final song on Viper. So sad that The Ring record could be also out of reach. Both aspects suffering from a lack of caring and extreme disinterest in general!

We need to get this on Fox and Friends! He will see it and make it happen. Anyone in the media business? If someone can get me some contact emails for famous people, organizations or companies who you think might help I will start making calls and emails!

By "he" do you mean Trump? Do you think that he would publicly contribute to the Viper campaign to reduce a lap time by a few seconds during this period of severe personal losses by thousands and thousands of people in Texas? He is not a politician; but, I think that even he would consider how the average person would perceive that frivolity right now.

Yes I meant Trump and not to get into a political debate but first I was saying it in a joking manner, as that he would bring it up and then possibly companies or individuals would donate big. But in reality he doesn't give a crap what average American's think or how they feel. He just went to a horrible natural disaster zone and then spoke about crowd size and how historic the hurricane and flooding is. Never did he console a victim, residents or mention anything about how he feels for them. Only now that the media made mention of it is he going to meet with victims on his return visit Saturday.

Just checked the weather at the Ring. It looks like the best weather of the day will be between 9 and 10 AM their time. I hope any morning dew on the track is dried by that time and that they have that time available for them.

Hmmmm. Wonder if that's a GT2 RS to the right and rear of the Viper in that pic.

You have to ask yourself what kind of an ass clown would turn a thread about the Viper running at the Ring into an anti Trump diatribe. And here's your answer.

At this point, I would not care if the money came from the tooth fairy. I know you were not referring to me above but my point was, whether it is The Ring title or a hockey tournament in a North Korea, or whatever, us True Americans pitch in and help each other out to ensure we are the best at everything. And no matter how any of us behave, we love this country and want it to be the best. As far as all the politics these days, nobody can win anything. Everyone has an opinion. Our president can do good or bad, he seems to get blamed in either case. I don't think it is fair. Hell if I was in the position, I would get accused of waste for using triple ply toilet paper. But you know, there is no way, I would use anything else. I appreciate people who stand up for who they are and don't change for anyone, just be authentic. That is why I love the Viper.

Continue to knock it out the park, crank some Loverboy and "Working for the weekend".

Not a good sign, this car has been sitting here for a couple of hours......:-(

I may be mistaken, but I believe that's about halfway around a lap. Hope the other car was able to set a time.

My guess is they would have run already... Not sure if the wreck yesterday screwed with the vipers ability to get a lap in

  22. #872
They were at the track this morning prior to 8 am local time with both cars appearing ready to go.
