Three cheers for Kumho for their backing of the ACR in the first place, and for their participation in this heroic effort! In addition, the Drivers, Russ, Viper Exchange, etc., etc., have already gone above and beyond and I thank them all! Excellent work!

They are really having some tough luck unfortunately as well as coming to terms and understanding things that perhaps they didn't appreciate beforehand. They are all working very hard and understandably are a bit deflated at times due to circumstances but are still soldiering on as best they can. For those that have never been to the Ring I can tell you it is a very gruelling place and there is no circuit like this on the planet. And you can't just say hey I'll string together 4-5 laps of VIR or Road American and it will be the same. IT IS NOT THE SAME I GUARANTEE YOU. Just think of it as a giant 13 mile rollercoaster ride with changes in road surface, camber, undulations, elevations and crazy compressions, jumps all put into one gigantic lap. This has circuit has it all. Which is why it so prestigious when manufacturers get a car to work well there. But it ain't easy. Lets hope something good comes on Friday. I'll post my own attempts in my ACR during those days on another thread.....But in the meantime here was the car coming down the Dottinger straight on Tuesday morning
Well stated. It's easy for us to second-guess and make up shit we know nothing about. It's definitely not the same but they've done one hell of a job and I thank the entire team for what they accomplished.

We, the Viper community (VE, Russ, contributors, etc.) decided to give it a shot despite the fact that FCA opted not to. Maybe they knew the perils. Kumho built a great tire for what the Viper does best. I track them on my ACR in six-digit weather and although their life is a little short, I have no complaints. This record attempt had to be with a stock production vehicle running on the OEM tires or it was pointless. Hats off for a gallant effort!

Agreed! Everyone is doing their part except FCA! FCA should be downright embarrassed they have contributed nothing.

I am glad that FCA is not directly involved. What has made this such a great story is the fact that Russ Oasis et. al., on a crowd funded shoe string budget with relatively few sponsors and little Ring time have accomplished so much. In essence, it is a David vs. Goliath story. A Rocky story. Rocky punching cattle carcasses at the meat distributor vs. his opponent practicing in a fancy gym. That is why the media loves it. That is why people of all Brand persuasions support it. If it was an FCA backed and financed attempt it would be a yawn. The Viper already owns the Ring record for the rest of time for this type of car regardless of what happens Friday. We should all be very proud.

Weather forecast for tomorrow morning looks very good, no rain and around 10°C at 8:00 am. Should stop raining later today so that hopefully the track will be completely dry by tomorrow.

    Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the nice things said. Believe me, nobody wants this more than we do. I know for absolute positive that the car is a 6:5x car. We would have made it the day before yesterday had the track not made the miscalculation of when to let us out. If we lived her (like Porsche does) and could just hang out waiting for the exact right moment, we could probably also beat the Porsche. I'd come back again, because I'm that sure. To come back, we'd need about $75,000. A couple of our very generous sponsors have already offered about $35,000, so we'd need to raise $40,000 and it would have to come from sponsors because we just don't have time to crowdfund $40,000. And it would have to happen within this upcoming week. I'd also have to convince Bernie to leave the cars here (which he doesn't love, for a number of reasons), Joe Kallas's boss to let him return and Prefix to let Dick Winkles return. If somebody can come up with the $40,000, speak up so I can TRY to get all those things to happen. It's still not a sure thing that everybody could come back and that the weather would cooperate. For Porsche, they just sit back and wait because it's important to the factory to hold the title. It's only important to Bernie, Russ, and the rest of the guys who own Vipers, in our case. If there is one thing I hope you guys get from what I am saying, it's that the car can POSITIVELY break a 7:00 with no sweat.
Thanks again for all the positive support and let me know if anyone has any ideas (like an immediate $40,000) to keep trying. Never say die.

I really admire the persistence. Thanks again for doing all this for the Viper community.

What an effort. If Viper does end up getting this record after all of these grass-roots and sponsors efforts, flights back/forth, bad weather, radio-in-the-cupholder incident, Hurricane hitting the dealership back home and simple manpower invested, it will be a story to write and read for the ages.... Congrats everyone on doing everything possible for the car and for Viper Nation.

It's definitely documentary worthy. It's a story that has so much drama and twists and turns that I can see a producer picking it up. Let's hope there's LOTS of footage being taken during this whole effort.
