Martin, the engines still only have about 15 hours on them each, so it's not like they have really loosened up much. I wish they had.
Vegaskid, we're still going back in August. Stay tuned.

Be cool if Dom was driving around a Gen v daily to get more comfortable with the manual.
Well forecast for the entire next week is for dry sunny weather
I have to presume that's when they will have another go. So at least the weather will be behaving!
Here's some good news that I just discovered. We were running two cars. Luca and Dom each had their own car. Luca had to leave to go to his real driving job before we got the lap. So, we only drove one car (not Luca's). It was Luca's car that had the rear wing reduced as far as we could. Dom's car still had a notch of wing in the rear. We were trying different settings in each car to see what worked the best. That means that eliminating the one notch of wing in Dom's car, we can pick up a few mph on the long straight and that is HUGE. Stand by. Sub 7:00 at Nurburgring is coming soon to a Viper near you.
Excellent news.
Great News Russ.
I will be at the Ring with my ACR-Extreme on Monday 28th and 29th of August-So I presume just a couple of days after you! It'll be my first time there and I need to find out what Bump/rebound settings you guys found worked best so I can adjust my car as well!
Is it a secret what days the car will be running? The time is booked why the hush hush?
Loving the suspense. who cares about the hush hush. Better off with less pressure on them to do what they have to do. They put this together, let them do what they want. I just wanna see sub 7's! Good luck and be safe out there.
The other side of the argument....it was a crowdfunded event...
As long as there are good videos documenting the record attempt afterwards, I don't care how hush-hush they are now. There could be a 1.5-2 hour movie made about this record attempt and it would sell well (not in theaters, but to the public).
Alright, I will fly out to Germany and break in the engines on the autobahn to loosen them up for the team... it's the least I could do!
Really, no problem, when do you want me there? Just leave the remote on top of tire on the passenger side rear tire... what do you think, 500 miles each!
Can you please PM me the dates - i am going to be in EU next month and will drive over to Germany if the dates line up.
Thank you in advance.
Good question. I noticed a decent pickup in freeway speeds acceleration by reducing the rear wing to the number one position, so there's definitely some gains to be had there. But it'll be interesting to find out how much downforce you lose.
I believe that the effects of losing some rear downforce by reducing the wing can be partially counteracted by increasing the rake of the car.
I also wonder what ride height they are running and what camber. When it comes to setting Nurburgring record, every tiny little setting counts.
Ring fix until we get the one we all waiting for:
Interesting that the GT3 RS topped out around the same mph as Dom did in the ACR-E on that long back straight despite much much less downforce. Not bad for minimal mods (Manthey modded GT3-R suspension, Manthey alignment -3.5 front, magnesium wheels and 20% increased down force). Got to love the GT3 RS so potent with comparatively little compared to some of the big dogs. Not same category as the ACR of course but man 7:09 is moving.

Nice lap. Car seems to be under good control and probably running as well as it can. The time seems to be about what I would expect.
The ACR needs to get better dialed so that it is not worming around so much mid-turn. If we're already at the limit of tire performance, then the squirrely behavior obviously cannot be dialed out. But my current impression is that we're not there yet.
If we are at the tire's limit, then we should strap on some slicks and see what she can really do since everyone else seems to be doing that anyway. Obviously, we should disclose that fact with the improved time, but it would be nice to see what a car with such massive downforce can accomplish if given the opportunity.
Remember though, nearly 7 seconds difference between this and the ACR's first attempt and he doesnt have to wrestle with a manual box!. That's a considerable difference and considering they are still trying to dial in the ACR into the track I suspect things will get a bit smoother this week. Let's see and cross our fingers.....
So anyone know if they are back at the ring?
Yes I believe they are
Industry pool testing today
I thought I heard there were 2 windows this week to take runs at it. Have any occurred or coming up? Seems quiet on the eastern front ....
they over there tweaking the car right now
