there is word that a r8 gt will be coming out (somewhat equivalent of the performante, if one dares try to make a mapping) ... i'm sure that one will make it to the ring at some point.
Audi made a "performance" GT version of the R8 before. My point was not related to the exterior looks of the car. Instead, I was referring to the fact that while the R8 shares a drivetrain with the Hurican, there is no marketing, press or other outward effort by VW to make the R8 a world-beater, when it could easily, easily compete with the Hurican.

they didn't have any of the marketing as a "world-beater" for the huracan until the performante came out... i forsee a potential, for similar marketing when the Gen2 R8 GT is released

That would be like saying FCA can run a Comp Coupe and claim it's a "Viper".

This lol. Saw the car there, it was actually their Isle of Man race car repainted to look like the street car. Still incredibly fast but not a production car in any way.

A documentary is inevitable ... start it with the 89 concept right to the to the CAAP closing.... Geez that would be a carnival of mixed emotions...

The TV actor Patrick Dempsey did a multi episode documentary on the trials and tribulations of competing at Le Mans. It was actually pretty good.

Not sure there needs to be a mini series about the Viper, but a 1/2 hour to 1 hour Ring record attempt documentary would probably sell and stay in late night re-runs for the next 10 years. To make a proper documentary that is even half an hour long takes a lot of planning.....not sure if the team had this in the plan. Hopefully they did.

They're going to have to try less rear wing. That track is mind blowing. I never could get it right on GP Legends.

According to the R&T article they're already running the minimum wing setting.

Wow I didn't realize, the other cars are getting 180 300k on the backstraight and I only see 277kph on the ACR. This is on the 7:03 lap.

Just watched it again and he momentarily hit 280 going flat out through the left hander.

Guys (and ladies), I believe we have one notch of wing left that we can remove. We're going to do that when we return to see if we can boost that speed on the back straight. Even if we can pick up just a few kph, that will translate into some significant time, as that back straight is quite long. Let's hope for 5-7 kph. As we know from all the other tracks, the car should be good for 180 mph which translates into 290 kph.

Now that the engine is broken in completely, and loosened up a bit, we might see a little more power out of it. Keeping my fingers crossed that we see something in the area of a 6:55.

Any idea of which days you plan on running? Is it still planned in Aug or will you move to Sep?
