Live how every other word in the article is "stock" and "bone stock".. Just in case
We really need to wait and see what the team says about how they felt during the Run. Then we'll be able to see if the record is realistic or not
My guess is it's still a mix condition track with damp patches. When I drove there after light rains, it takes a while for some parts of the track to dry off where the rain pools and in the heavily forested areas where the sun does not hit the pavement.
Parts of the track that have heavy graffiti get extra super slippery when it's damp too.
In drier conditions they should be able to shave a decent amount of time off the 7:03. It's just a question of weather cooperating with them for long enough for the track to be fully dry. The Performante had perfect conditions, and I think I read somewhere that they hit the track after a race day, so the track was extra grippy. It'll be tough to match those conditions.
Agreed. Not worried. A 7:03 matches the lighter ACR-X time of a few years ago if memory serves. Track was green and it was probably a shakedown run probably to test the hubs etc....Can't imagine on a better day it not breaking into the 6:5x.
Can anyone confirm if they will have any chances for legit passes today or is Fridays "hope window" the only other shot?

Not worried, sub 7 min times will come.It wasn't easy: the privateers originally scheduled one hour of closed-track lap time on Monday, July 24th, to attempt to set a lap time. But heavy rains all day scuttled those plans, leaving the team only able to practice during open lapping sessions with significant traffic, often under wet, rainy conditions. When a brief window of track time became available this afternoon, the team scrambled into action.
Road & Track has been traveling with the privateer Viper team in Germany all week. The lap time was set on brand-new, stock, street-legal Kumho Ecsta V720 tires (295/25 front, 355/30 rear on factory 19-inch wheels) supplied by Kumho, a sponsor of the attempt. And this is only the first lap attempt: the team plans to go for another flying lap later this week.
Would be nice to see the data to see where they lost time to the Porsche and Lambo on this run. Would not be surprised if they had dampish sections to contend with.
7:03 is a warm up- lots more to come
Read somewhere that during the Gen IV ACR's attempt, they knocked off 18 seconds between the first attempted lap and the 3rd attempted lap. 20 seconds by the 5th lap. Definitely think it has more left in it once better conditions arise.
I read a comment on FB that stuck out to me.
"They got a mini slot and made a single run... 7.03 beating the new Z06 by 10 sec"
"Day 8: After being here 8 days, we got our first lap today. The ACR-E turned at 7:03.45, right out of the box, which is either the second or third fastest production car lap ever recorded at The Ring, depending on whether you believe that the Lamborghini actually turned a 6:51 with no witnesses and irregularities in their video. We are supposed to get a second lap tomorrow, but it's difficult to be assured of anything until it actually happens. If it rains, we're once again sidelined. Dominik reports that he feels that there is a sub 7:00 lap in the car. Trust me when I say that we are doing everything that we can. If we were to return in August, we would need to crowdfund at least another $50,000 for the unplanned expenses. I'm interested in how the Viper Nation feels about that. By the way, "Road & Track" was blown away. I would say they "get it."...
Yowser
I guess I'm in the minority because I don't give a shit about the Lamborghini time, but I do want to know what the ACR is capable of. That's what I care about.
It is what it is. There will always be faster cars.
