With no offense towards anyone I just don't see why the Viper needs an auto tranny. The car is a true sports car and IMO a sports car should have a clutch. Maybe an auto can go a couple of tenths faster in the 1/4 and maybe it will shave some time on a road course but that's not enough of a return to give up the thrill of going thru the gears and the challenge that goes along with it!

Also for the amount of autos they may sell it's not worth the R&D, put the money into other areas to make the Viper a better product!

We all know that we have to opt out of some things that our hearts desire. Its just the fact of getting older.
Getting a Challenger or SRT Jeep or maybe even a CTS-V may make more sense at that point.

You can make some people happy some of the time but not all people all of the time
There are a lot of younger people that have probably never seen a manual car.

If I didn't grow up on a farm, I probably never would have driven one.

So, there is that as well.

Funny how some people defend the fact that more Hp is not the answer because how much faster can you go? Yet, they want an auto trans which will do as you say. Make it mere seconds faster. if you want faster than build the motor and drive it manually. Does the viper need another option? Hell no. Its millions of more dollars invested in developing it and very small returns for how many will actually pay extra for it when its pick your options time.
Make the car lighter and it will go faster, period. More carbon fiber options and less hoopla extras will lighten up the car and shave those mere seconds that you'll get from the auto trans. Getting auto trans because your wife can now drive it is not what SRT's goal is in a marketing perspective.

Good point. I have a culprit in that regard. My son is 18 and has not driven a manual car. He has seen one though

Just wonder how many really would want an automatic?
What we want here is probably irrelevant. Adding an Auto trans would be for attratcting a different crowd of buyers that haven't purchased a Viper in the past because there is no option for Auto trans.
