Thanks! I haven't done the heater core hoses yet. Mine still seem to be in good shape at the moment but eventually I will probably swap those out for silicone versions as well. The upper and lower RAD hoses are a must though. Mine were pretty bloated looking when I replaced them!
I'm in the middle of contemplating changing out my rad hoses. Lucky me, there's 5 on the Gen 1. Where did you end up getting your hoses from out of curiosity?
I know the rad hoses are an often changed item...Id be curious to know how many guys are changing out the heater hoses? Are these as prone to failure as the rad hoses?
I still run my original hoses, incl radiator hoses. When I looked at these during my TC gasket repair I did not detect any issue that led me believe they need to be replaced. Hopefully I have not overlooked something![]()
Don't you use any antifreeze? Coolant looks like plain water ....!?
I shopped around a bit and eBay and Amazon (if you have prime) had the best prices for the Mishimoto hoses. My opinion is that the main 2 rad hoses see the most stress (The lower rad hose especially and even has wire spring in it to prevent collapsing). The heater hoses are probably prone to dry rotting and cracking just like any rubber part but not under as much stress as the main 2. Just my 2 cents.
Take a look at the lower rad hose where the clamp meets the rad and the clamp meets the engine. Check the rubber of the hose here for bloating as this was where mine looked ballooned.
Check this video at 13:30 mark to see what I mean and where mine were looking vulnerable.
I drive it a lot actually! Should probably make more videos of that stuff, already a few thousand miles this year!
I do, its the orange mopar coolant cut 50/50 with distilled water. I switched to PEAK lifetime for this time around though as per lots of recommendations I found in past threads.
