    Disappointed in the 9 Liter

There is a real problem with the Arrow 9 Liter package, when you look out the rear glass you see these two strange black streaks. All kidding aside, the 9 Liter package feels like it adds the torque of a 150 shot of nitrous. The increase is 50 hp, but, The torque increase is approx 100 ft lbs at some points under the curve. The dyno curve starts at 3000 rpm where the torque is 575 ft lbs and peaks at close to 750 ft lbs at 4800.

We picked up the engine at Arrow on Thursday. The engine was dropped in Thursday night and started Sunday night. It started with a single click of the key, without a single code.

Here is what we installed over the weekend:

    1. Arrow 9L package - Woodhouse.

    2. Accusump package - Woodhouse.

    3. Belanger Cat delete - Woodhouse.

    4. Nth Moto clutch.

    5. Smooth Tubes - JonB.

    6. Drive Shaft rpm logger (added over winter)

The drive shaft rpm logger works well. I programmed it to equal engine rpms in first gear.

I will post a better report next week when the rain stops and the R488R's are mounted. The 9L does not like the PZeros.

Even with a stage 2 I'd say it's necessary if you track a lot. That clutch will be my next upgrade regardless of moving to 9.0 or staying with the stage 2.

Jack good to hear your impressions. I bet it feels more "gen 2" on steroids with all that low end torque. I definitely understand how it balances out the power band and probably gives a much smoother drive in slow parts of town without that surging. You did not miss a beat on this build. That's quality work from the best. Enjoy in health.

That setup has to be awesome. To have another streetable 50-100 rwhp/tq is outstanding. What ever happened with the 10L versions of the strokers?

I can tell you this, the Mcleod and BBG do not work for long with sticky tires. For road racing they probably are fine, but, do no seem any better than the oem. As far as shifting, the oem, BBG and the Mcleod all have approx 8-10 lbs of rotating mass on the shaft, the Nth, has 3.5 lbs.

Right now the Nth is as close to the factory feel as it can get. It does seem to have more modulation or controllable slip. The install is easy, except, the slave position is critical and has to be measured.

It had to be scrapped due to cooling issues. The OEM system was just not cutting it.

Another point, Arrow supplied the leak-down report, all values were either 3 or 4%. The compression was 185 psi for all cyl.

I will do an audio once we get some warm dry weather. We also took some Arrow pics. The cat delete definitely changed the sound level and characteristic.

    Jack,
Do you know if the PCM picks up the cat delete and will adjust fuel/timing? Do you know if the PCM will flow more fuel and timing creating more hp/tq. Also, has decel fuel pop been activated/deleted still?

There is MAF fuel control, therefore, no need to reflash the PCM . The car still pops like mad on deaccel. It is not widely known, but, the Stage 2 PCM has the fuel trims turned off.

Jack, are you measuring tire/wheel spin with the drive shaft rpm logger or something else ? Also, thanks for all the info you provide this forum.
