    Another Window Regulator Thread

Like some others have said, I've avoided rolling down the windows when I didn't have to because of the crap regulators (which, like avoiding using the parking brake is getting old). Well, I finally got the dreaded loud pop rolling up the driver's side window and the passenger's side has been making popping/grinding noises for the last couple of years, so I'm going to replace them both at the same time.

    A couple of questions -

Are the newer "AI" part numbers (right 04865610AI, left 04865611AI) improved versions of the old "AH" regulators, or just a part number change by Dodge?

Also, for you DIYers, where did you buy your regulators? It looks like they're running around $270 each w/o shipping in a lot of places, but I'm also concerned about how they're packaged and shipped because of the potential to damage the plastic tubing.

    TIA

I cannot answer as to longevity of the newest (AI) part. I will say that we have already seen broken Gen V window regulators at our Special Viper Service Sessions. My own spares are 2 AE editions and 2 AI editions. At this point, our 03 has the characteristic squeal on the driver's window and our 08 coupe dies the same. I have been waiting for the regulators to completely "die" before replacement.

These regulators come in a large, flat box...ABOUT 2-2.5 feet by 3 feet...with no packing material. I would suggest that you remove the regulator and inspect for damage immediately upon receiving shipment.

My driver window just started popping at the very bottom of its travel, and also at the very top. I assume then that this is the regulator issue...

    Your assumption would be correct.

I need to replace my passenger door regulator. When I look up the part numbers above, those come back opposite sides of what you have listed. Is this the one I need for my passenger door?

    REGULATOR. RIGHT. FRONT DOOR WINDOW.
    Part Number: 04865610AI

Thankfully they are so much cheaper than they were. Mine were replaced with the new style, one of which died while leaving the dealership. Haha. But of course it is warranteed for 12months and 12k miles. That one was replaced, no problems since then. I actually wonder if the opening and closing on door open and close wears these things out faster than they should? What else could it be?

i think i found a way to fix the problem.............................. just leave the window down and climb in and out through the window. just like the DUKE boys did.

My passenger window regulator is so dam intermittent over the last 4 years. Only randomly does it click at the bottom of the track height. Tried taking a video of it(my car has 1.5 years of chrysler gold warranty left) and then fucking thing stops clicking and works fine. They wont fix it unless its actually broken. Dam things!

Does the Mopar Added Care Plus extended warranty cover these parts?

This is what they state is covered- although it doesn't specifically state "Regulators"-
    POWER GROUP: Rear Window Defroster; Power Window Motors; Power Window Flex Track;

It must be nice to have the extended warranty! My regulators haven't failed completely, but they're noisy. I have two new ones sitting in boxes ready to install. Waiting for cooler weather.

My drivers side window doesn't seem to be indexing properly. I can't even open the drivers door without going in through the passenger side and lowering the window a 1/4" or so first. I hear very light popping running it up and down. Is this a regulator problem or an indexing problem? Both? It's an 08 if it matters.

Argh ..... passenger side busted. At least door panel came off without breaking anything. May add insulation to the door as well as the exhaust noise is getting bothersome.
