Another drag strip rental - took the '06 coupe out this time.

Weather was in the mid-low 60s today, nice day for a private drag strip rental here in Houston. I ran a new best ET and mph today. I was mostly there to practice launching the car, and the seat time paid off. Here are all my slips.

    Basic modifications summary:

    2006 Viper coupe
    TR6060 transmission w/ BBG dual-disk clutch
Forged rods/pistons, custom camshaft, stock heads and intake
    Paxton Novi2000 supercharger
Nitrous Outlet wet nitrous system, jetted at 200 hp
    18" drag radials
3.33 gears, Wavetrac posi, Driveshaft shop 1000 hp axles

Great job as always Tony! Crazy how consistent it is given the power level.

Andy, it just requires a consistent driver

A lot of higher hp cars out there today, running mid-10s. Just takes seat time, as you know.

Very solid passes! What were you launching at? Tire(dr) psi? Any reason you didn't decide to work the heads while you were in there during the build?

Slipping the clutch around 5000 rpm off the line. 345/35-18 Mickey Thompson drag radials at 18 psi cold (20-21 hot)

I may do Greg G's heads next, I bought some spare cores to have ported. Just never got around to it. May pull the engine out this Summer and have it freshened up, it has been over a year now.

Here is the in-car video of the pass.

How many miles and/or how much use in the past year to make you feel it needs to be freshened up??

Maybe 2000 miles on it. But, I've ran at these events and have done a lot of WOT runs.

3x Texas Invitational (another coming up)
    Texas Mile
    TX2K12
    TX2K13
    two drag strip rentals
    a lot of Mexico runs

Probably a good idea to inspect the bearings, rings, valvespring pressures, and cylinder bores. I can pull an engine out in about 4 hours by myself.

Easier than an f-body, Andy. No kidding. I can get a trans out in 1 hr now. That is the hard part. I remove the side-sills to take my Belanger headers loose at the collectors, so I can remove the headers and get them out of the way. Just a little time consuming there. The rest is easy.

    Good stuff NB.
With your current setup what is the advantage form a ported head? And what is the expected hp gain ?

I actually purchased an extra set of heads, to get them ported by Greg G. I'd figure 80-90 hp, but there simply aren't enough similar combos out there for me to see any real data. Whenever I pull the engine to refreshen it later, it will have the heads swapped out.
