    Center console removal

So I am hearing that the center console need to be removed to gain access to the intermediate shaft, for purposes of replacing a shifter. Does anyone have a step by step (preferably with pictures)? I do want to replace the shifter, but I also dont want to fok anything up.

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. Yes, I am trying to replace the shifter. The only thing I dont understand is what Bill means by "Unsnapping" the clips. Do they release when you stick the trim tool under the console lid and apply pressure to the outside of the clip?

I haven't done it myself but from what I can understand the clips just insert and click into place . So I guess by applying pressure to the outside of the clip as you put the tool in under the console,as you say, you should be able to just lift it up. Maybe someone else can chime in who has done this?

You do not need to remove the center console, remove the console fascia, then, the shaft with a crows foot ratchet. Then, use a crows foot to remove the shifter, not easy, but, can be done.

Look up a picture of the shifter bezel before trying to remove it, IIRC, there is a clip on the drivers side of it, where it wraps down around the console that is oriented 90 degrees to the top ones, so it looks like you have to pry the passenger side up, then pull the drivers side towards the driver... IIRC....

There are four or five clips, I have mine off, I will take a pic and post early next week. Use a small plastic pry bar that is used for interior panel clips.
