Looking for reasonable insurance cost.
Been with allstate 30+ years, 3 homes, 4 cars, no violations or serious claims. Older age, good zip code and few miles.
They want 3600 yearly. Sound about right?
Thanks, JOHN the cheapskate!

Call AIS. Auto Insurance Specialists. They are a broker and will find you the best rate.

I was with AAA Paying almost $300 a month for my 00 Viper and 14 ram. Used AIS and they were able to get me down to $140 a month for both vehicles through Mercury Insurance.
Yup, 1 car, 1 car. Do you believe that?
I called AIS on Boosteds recommendation, wow glad I checked with you guys. Boosted, I owe you a dinner. They quoted 1609.00 every six months, for all 4, yes all 4 cars.
Love you guys, thanks much, I can eat again!
I'm $800/yr for full coverage.
I pay $807 for the year for my 2015 with geico. $1397 a year for 2 cars.
I"ve got State Farm, they insure my home, and all 4 cars. My 2000 GTS is about $650 a year, full coverage w/guaranteed value if something happened.
I am the victim (in the past) of high insurance. In New Jersey, the rates are through the roof. Thing was that the low lifes would take the train into Princeton where I lived, looking specifically to steal cars and then flee. The insurance companies knew that and rocked you with super high rates. You could do nothing about it. Call everyone company under the sun. Does not matter.
After moving to Texas, I don't have the problem. I live in the country where everyone supposedly has a gun. If someone tries to steal a car in the rural area, they get their head blown off. I pay less for 4 cars than you do for your one. Again, that does not mean that you are getting ripped off, just a factor of your geographic location.
** Interesting side note ***
When I first came down here to Texas, near Christmas time, I literally heard a public service announcement from the Police in town. The message, which was about 5 minutes long on radio, related to robberies that were happening in the area. The police said, and I quote, "If you pull a fire arm inside your house, shoot to kill." The police did not want an old person getting the weapon taken from the home owner and used against them by the robber. In NJ, you can't even have a fire arm and down in Texas "Shoot to kill". What a difference. I looked at my wife, a resident of a non-gun-owning state for almost 50 years, and said "We are not in Kansas any more"!
here now in Missouri, its the wild wild west, hell people are running around on streetbikes packin heat on their sides/holster
I have American Family Insurance, my Viper is 588 per year....seems high for a 1997 but my total insurance package is reasonable at 3000 per year covering house, shop, 6 cars and 7 motorcycles. Ya got to pay if you want to play... Life's short...
What happened to the days of lower insurance costs the longer you stayed with a company as a customer?
Seems the norm now is to shop and switch every few years now because the cost go through the roof....
I have my 06 insured through AARP /Hartford Collector Car division. I have a $50,000 agreed value policy and it is $1200/ year. There is a 6000 mile limit on it, but I can increase that limit if needed. You must be an AARP member (50+)to qualify.
Dan St John
2006 Blue Coupe / Silver Stripes.
I have Grundy Collectors car insurance on the Viper.
Agreed value, just under $600 a year.
Geico 34 years old, $500 deduct, $100k uninsured, 300/300/100, $500/6 months for the viper. Whole policy is 6 cars, 3 drivers, probably $2100 every 6m
you have to shop around every couple years now. You dont get good rates with loyalty

It's tough to compare rates with other people. There are so many things that factor into their tiers, of which there are many, and they dint disclose their algorithms. Obvious things like driving record matter, but so do criminal records, length of time at current residence, length of time at job, plain old credit score, and also where you live. And I don't mean what city, I mean block by block. These are things I've seen make a difference with a people's rates.
Bottom line, shop around. I think a good broker is best but you can do it yourself of course. But BE SURE to get agreed value. Not stated value or amoratized. Agreed value so if you ever wreck or damage, you know how much you are getting. I know someone who just got shafted on their ACR by a very reputable insirance company because they did their standard depreciation rate per year (it was in his contract so they didn't do anything wrong) and it wasn't nearly enough to replace it.
Good luck.
I put in a quote with Grundy, and got almost the same price Geico was charging but I doubt geico will go with an agreed value for this car. I went to KBB/Edmunds and they said private party for my car is $66k lol. Going to go with Grundy and cancel the viper coverage with Geico soon.
My story is similar to yours, except that Allstate refused to insure my ACR after carrying a policy on my Gen 2 for about 5 years at a fairly reasonable rate. My agent stated Vipers are now on the black list with Allstate because of the frequency they are wrecked along with the cost of repair. I'm calling BS, but whatever.
After shopping it with just about everyone, I went with Grundy and pay $860 per year with a high agreed value and policy limits, and with no mileage limitations....but I did have to agree the car would not be used as a daily driver, it's secured in a garage when not being used, and no one younger than 25 years of age drives it (those were a done deal for me anyway).
