    Mopar ATF +4

    Hi guys...

    So I found 3 p/n for it...

    68218058GA
    68218059AC
    68218058AA

The prices are different too! So which exactly is the one for the gen 5s or they all the same? But if they the same why would there be 3 different p/n & prices...

    Thanks for the help...

I would assume that 1 and 3 are historically the same due to the part number with 1 being a new formula. Usually the first letter after the part number denotes a design change and the second a manufacturing change. So it seems like the first one on the list had design changes from A to G but is still manufactured the same way/same place.

I also found that pn ending in 57 is the 1 quart bottle, 58 is 5L, not sure what 59 is. Also, 54 is a 208L drum! http://www.moparinternational.com/maintenance-catalog/action/guide/AUTOMATIC%20TRANSMISSION%20FLUIDS/

Anyone try another brand's ATF, Tremec recommends GM Dexron III

According to what I just looked up that is the current and correct part number for Gen V Viper's if you want to use the factory fluid.

Still trying to sort this out. I am looking to get the 5L jug. 68218058GA & 68218059AC are the 2 I found. Their names are exact same but the labels' graphics are not. I wonder if the fluid themselves are exactly same too. Maybe what we got here is old vs new formula as sadil pointed out? Certainly none of us on this forum want to use the "lesser" atf +4 if that is really the case. Experts please jump in!

I used Castrol ATF+4 Synthetic found at NAPA. In my research, ATF+4 is a very specific formulation, and in such, they are all the same in order to be labeled ATF+4. Just my $.02.

FYI This tranny is in many vehicles. If it's in a Ford (Mustang) it calls for Mercon V, in a Chev. it's Dex III, and in a Dodge, it's ATF+4, don't let it confuse you. That's the basic conventional ATF. I use Amsoil Multi-veh. Full Syn. ATF - I find it to be superb and the tranny shifts much better.
