    Little Viper Enthusiast

So this past Saturday I drove south towards Madison, to Lake Mills, WI for a rather large "Cars and Coffee" event. I had heard they have some pretty incredible cars show up, and they certainly do!! Was a great time. While on my way back I made a stop to get gas and while I was filling up I heard this kid across the street screaming VIPER!!!!! OMG A VIPER!!!! After smiling and laughing to myself, I finished filling up and drove one door down to get a couple things at O'Rielly's. The kid and his friends followed and were taking pics as I walked out. This young kid said it was his favorite car ever. I asked if he just loved Vipers, and he said, "Well ya, but the GTS is my all time favorite, nothing is better" I asked if he's sat in one, which he hadn't, so I let him sit in it and check it out while his friends took pics. He told me it was his Dream Car, and was also his Step Dad's dream car, and that he was going to buy one when he retired. I vividly remember flipping out like that over this SAME car when I was a kid. When I first saw the appearance of the GTS. It was a really cool experience.

Nice to see young kids who get enthused about cars. Seems like alot of them are more interested in other things. Nice of you to let him sit in it. He may own one someday.

It is definitely refreshing to see the enthusiasm in someone so young for our cars.

    That's a great story
I had a similar thing happen a week ago. My wife and i were looking for a restaurant and had turned into a parking lot. A young boy, maybe 10, and his mom pulled up beside me and asked if they could take a pic. She said it was her son's favorite car. So of course I said yes! I found a nice wide open spot in the parking lot, parked the car shut it off and got out. Then I opened the drivers door and told the youngster to hop in for a 'real picture'. You shoulda seen the smile on his face!

That's great! And so glad you took the time to let him sit in it. Ill bet he will never forget that day, I know I wouldn't if I was still a youngster or heck now for that matter. lol

Kudos to you as well Brian. Nothing brightens my day more than seeing a kid smile.

My close friend and his family recently visited me from the UK. Their oldest boy Jake has Downs but what a great kid and his laugh is just infectious. I took him out in the 65 Fastback and than the Viper and he just had a blast as did I. He had me laughing the entire time.20170220_115928.jpgoutput.jpg

    And the cycle continues.

It's great that so many members (and owners) are such good ambassadors for the car. Over my time, I've seen some pretty profound things we've done for interested youngsters (and all those "older youngsters") who dream of owning one.

    Kudos.

What a fantastic story, and a fantastic guy! I can't wait until I'm an owner and I can do things like this too. If someone had done for me when I was a kid what you did I would cherish that for life, heck I probably would if someone let me sit in one now!

I got to take my son to an exotic show recently, he's a car NUT, every bit as much as I am, there were 4 cars he asked for a picture in front of, that would be these.

Of course I was drooling over these!

Very cool! Thank you, it was a pretty cool experience. Too see someone so young going nuts over the same car I did when I was his age(I'm 33). I never got the chance to sit in one when I was that young though.

I really get a kick out of how surprised most are when I offer. After all it is just a car, but not one you see to often on the road.
That's awesome. I think he was about 12-13 so no driving this time lol

Kids Racing for Life Sebring 2015.jpgKids Racing for Life 2016 3.jpg

These pics are from Kids Racing for Life event at Sebring. Several of us do it every year, great event for kids with serious illness along with their brothers, sisters, moms and dads. We do hot laps around Sebring and they get to forget their problems for a short time. I've had them reach over and fist bump me on the backstretch doing 150 MPH. For me it doesn't get any better than that.

Oh yes that is definitely something I enjoy doing too! The looks on their faces when you open the door and say 'hop in' are priceless.

I once had a woman ask me if I wild give her mother a ride. Her kther was 80. I happily obliged.

I recommend you keep matchbox vipers in the back to give out. I end up giving them out at gas stations and car shows. Something for the kids to remember it by. And sometimes the parents want one too.

When someone is really into the car I let them sit in it too. Why not? That's what it's for. To be enjoyed. Getting to share the car is half the fun.

    Great story...

Awesome stories everyone! Keep letting people, especially kids but adults also, sit in our cars. People are always so grateful and helps create the positive reputation for the Viper, that owners are down to earth car lovers...

Lots of kids ar our local C&C. We need the next generation. Sadly, my two boys have zero interest in cars.

It's rare to see kids truly engaged and excited about cars, especially manuals. It's even more rare to see a kid know what a Viper is. Even adults don't know!

I share your pain Drummer, I thought my son would follow my passion but it was not meant to be...if only I could find a viper that could turn into an xbox or an iphone than it might hold his interest.
