    Rollbar Installed Pics

    thumbnail_20170503_112302.jpgthumbnail_20170503_134957.jpgthumbnail_20170503_161142.jpg

My rollbar was fabricated and installed by Ross Murray of Exoticraft. His workmanship is outstanding and I'm really glad I had him do the install. I am extremely pleased with the entire process from ordering it, planning my long drive to Southern CA, seeing Ross in action, and his attention to detail during the install. Thanks to Venom V for the referral to Ross.

Looks very clean, like a factory install.

Beautiful install! Question - did this take away any visibility out the back with the rear view mirror? The spoiler blocks the bottom 1/3 view, does this block the top 1/3?

Great looking roll bar. Does it mount to factory holes or is drilling required. If I start to track my car a bunch, I'd like to get one of these installed.

Yes, Ross really focuses on on the installation details! Visibility is impacted but upper 1/3 view is not blocked by the horizontal tubing...you do see the two diagonals. Regarding factory holes, yes it uses factory holes. For the rear diagonals, you do have to drill to enlarge the two stock holes so that a larger mounting bolt will fit. For the two forward mounting brackets, you use the factory threaded holes.
I am very detailed and picky about my mods...I give Ross a 10 out of 10 for the rollbar quality in terms of fabrication, silver powder coat, and the installation.

Yea, like apxnv I don't really have any issues with mine on visibility. On my 13 GTS I had the 1.0 aero and the view was really impacted. On my ACR even with the roll bar the view is way improved by comparison. I don't even really notice it.

I think it's around 25 lb. Having just come back from a drive, I just realized that the upper horizontal visibility is blocked. However I have my seat set low so it doesn't matter that the upper 25% of the rear window is blocked. My TA 1.0 rear spoiler creates the bigger visibility issue. More reason to upgrade to a larger aftermarket wing!

How do you know if that will help or hurt you in a crash?

With all due respect, personally, I'm just not entirely convinced this is entirely necessary. Obviously I would be interested to see if there is anyone who has looked at the effectiveness of this. Don't get me wrong it looks good. Its just that its not like its a full roll cage and by the looks of it, it is only sits next to and below the existing roll bar(incorporated into roof) from the factory. Just my 2 cents roll bar gen V ACR.jpg

I met a fabricator that built a full cage for a GenV ACR. He pulled the body off the car built the cage and then reinstalled the body and interior. It was magnificent. He said that a full swing of a baseball bat would take down the factory roll bar.

I did as well but 30K for labour only for the roll bar is ridiculous

he is wrong, I had tested that factory rollbar, and it saved my ass- front a pillars were collapsed in front and the back was perfect, except for big scratches in the paint

Well he would say that wouldn't he?

This is no cage, I don't we're kidding ourselves, but some nice double insurance. A bat isn't taking down the factory bar, hell a bat wouldn't take down the roll hoops on a gen4 vert, I've seen one upside down and the hoops were supporting the weight of the car. But it's super cool, extra protection FWIW, and a great place to mount a camera, lol. I do love the look in mine.

You rolled the car on the roof and the factory bar held up? How bad was the crash? Do you have pics? How many times did the car roll?

    Thanks!

    Guys,

I had a Mustang race car that had an SCCA approved full cage, and true this roll bar is no cage and doesn't protect against all types of impacts.

It is, however, very functional and significantly improves the safety in the event of a rollover as compared to just the factory bar. The roll bar is extremely rigid, the tubes are short in length and well designed. They attach directly to the beefy bulkhead directly behind the seats, this is the bulkhead that the six point harness mounts to. Because the tubes are short, they are not going to buckle or yield as easily as longer tubes would. Plus, it literally touches the headliner, it is that perfect of a fit.

Most of the tracks around here see speeds over 140 mph, cars can get pretty mangled and roofs collapse in wrecks at speeds a lot lower than that. With a six-point harness and a Necksgen like I use, or HANS device, I think this bar is a must.

And although my ACR is 90% track use, I drive it to and from the track on occasion, or to club events. That means a full cage is ruled out for me and probably most everyone on this forum, for obvious reasons. A quality roll bar such as this is the best solution for a street/track Viper.
