WE all have had different interactions with VE and other dealers. I have had Dealers want to cosign my vehicles and
there is only 1 that i will work with, that will treat me fair and not try to have me bend over for a sale.
but that is my opinion. Some Dealers do want to help you sell your car, others
are seeing how much they can get from you. Be sure to read agreements. Just because an agreement is already written
does not mean that you can't change it into a language that you understand. Keep It Simple Stupid is my motto. Once
someone wants to make a transaction difficult I will walk. If your unsure have an attorney review your agreement.

Lots of reasonable, intelligent people here are discussing this situation without knowing the actual facts. Without knowing what was actually agreed upon. Even though the OP deleted his part of the story, it is quoted later on and still there. Note that he did NOT say that Bernie told him that the parts were necessary for the buyer to buy the car. He said that he was told the parts were necessary to complete the sale below the asking price. He did not say that the parts were needed by the buyer or to be transferred to the buyer for free or sold at a discounted price to the buyer or to be sold separately by VE in order to allow them to sell the car below asking price.. There are THREE parties in this sale who need to be financially satisfied with the transaction.

We just do not know what the terms of the contract were.
Respectfully, this is the most sane post of the thread. We simply do not know the terms upon which the agreement was reached. Not trying to be wishy washy here. Either side could have misunderstood what was in the contract. This was such a 50/50 potential cut on the issue, it was interesting watching others in my industry opine on the issue when I shared it with them.

I do feel that the Viper being as rare as it is puts us owners in a unique situation, especially when selling the car. Since you're selling something that you've built, tracked and enjoyed and you know it's a good car, you kind of want it to go to a good home and or somebody that understands it and will appreciate the car. In this case it sounds like it was a built car that would make a great track weapon. If the original seller knew the buyer (not clear if this is the case) then that makes him even more emotionally attached to the sale and not wanting anything misrepresented. I know when I sold my last track Mustang to a local buyer, he was a Mustang lover that belonged to the Shelby Club. He agreed to the purchase price of the car and I then informed him that I had close to a pickup truck full of extra parts if he wanted them. Extra set of tires/rims for the track, carpet kit, all the stock parts that were removed, etc. I could have sold them separately and made some extra coin, but the reality is I knew this guy would drive the car on the track and enjoy it. And even to this day I stay in touch with him, see him (and my old car) at the track, etc. We talk and visit and he is having a good time with the car. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with how this deal went down.....if the seller thought all these parts were going to the guy getting his car, then I can see where he might feel betrayed. This is an unfortunately situation that probably could have been avoided if everything was in writing.

I do see VE's situation where they are looking to maximize their profit....whether that means selling the car for more money or selling the parts to various entities to make more profit. It is what it is and I'm ok with that. The challenge is there was probably some vagueness to VE's reason for needing the parts or where they would end up to "make this sale happen" type of lingo. There was probably some assumption by the seller that he thought the parts were going with his car to make the deal happen. I'm not so sure the seller is more butt hurt about the loss of monies or the idea that the parts didn't go to another Viper owner as part of the deal as he assumed....and I don't think the loss of monies is as big of a deal to him as he accepted VE offer including all the parts, tires, etc. So from a financial standpoint, the seller was not wronged as he agreed to the final price for the car and the parts.

Are there some ethics here that come into play?....probably because this is such a small community and a LOT of Viper owners know fellow Viper owners so information is often shared. These kind of car deals remind me of the popular girl in college that claimed she was a virgin yet it was common knowledge she had no gag reflex.
