Glowing manifold

So i'm about to act like a worried bitc....
As I'm preparing the viper's engine bay for this weekend car show i saw that the manifold on both sides of the engine is starting to glow as i hold the rpm about 2000 or more..i resently installed smooth tubes&high flow filter.i have seen glowing manifold on other cars at wot but never on low rpms like this..comon on vipers or should i pass the car show and start looking for a problem?big thanks to all answers😊

If you stil have cats, they are probably plugged. Cut them out now!! Hi-flows or natural. I prefer natural

the car has hiflow cats(forgot to mention),only one year old.

Not normal at all at low RPM.

Any tuning done on the car recently? Timing being off can cause excessive heat in the exhaust as well. I do then to agree with 99RT10 that a cat may be clogged up. If they aren't welded in you may want to try pulling them to see if that fixes the problem.

Only smooth tubes&filter and exhaust uppgrade with hi flow cats.no codes.

Why are you holding the throttle at 2k? Do they glow when it idles normally? Holding the throttle with no load on the engine will probably create more heat than normal. You can use a IR temp gun to check to see if the cats are clogged prior to cutting them off and doing a visual.

Wasnt actually holding it just gave it some rpm above idle(no glowing at idle) and noticed right away the manifolds started to glow,after that i checked by holding the rpm stabil about 2k.😊.i will try a ir temp gun.thanks!

My Bellager headers glowed at idle at the lower bends before the tri-Y merge collector. Both sides did the same thing. No cats. Corsa exhaust system. But then again my tune was rich at idle due to the ROE supercharger system I was running at the time. So I take it you are not running the factory headers/manifolds since the heat shields would cover them up....

x2. I can confirm on my Paxton Gen 2 with headers, no cats, and 3" exhaust, they would glow red sitting at idle in the garage if I let it run awhile.

I wouldn't be overly concerned but it doesn't hurt to check.

A little diffucult to tell as i'm running the stock manifold with shields,when it gets hot it realy lights up under the shield.i will be taking the car to a mechanic next week just to be safe

I have Corsa with new 3" kooks green cats. With the car idling on the hoist I can see a slight cherry red glow from underneath with the hood shut. Otherwise my car is stock with smoothtubes. Stock manifolds are thin, i wouldn't be to concerned unless they are glowing.

if your cats are clogged, you will cause some SERIOUSLY bad engine issues by driving it. dont ask me how i know this....

It is easy to verify if the cats are plugged. Measure the temps on both sides of the cats. If you have a large differential (hotter on the engine side) your cats are plugged or partially plugged. You can start a fire if they are plugged and try to run the engine. I have run Belangers on three different vipers and have never seen them glow at low speeds or no load conditions.

Check with a wrench to see if your front O2 sensors are loose. This will cause your manifolds to glow red and can destroy the sensor if driven or ran for too long. A few heat cycles can easily back out an otherwise "snugged in" oxygen sensor.
