Question for Mark J or Tom Sessions Or any other knowledgeable Viper guru

Without going aftermarket, I was wondering if there would be any benefit to switching out the stock shocks for a set from a Gen 5? They are much better made and wondering if the ride would be any better given the technology advances we have seen thru the years? I know they would be a direct bolt in for the Gen 3/4s, but looking for an option for my earlier cars. TIA,

First question I will ask.....Are the spring rates the same for your viper as the GEV V

When Gen 2 prices so clearly on the rise (skyrocketing!) I believe your offer to sell them to me for a dollar is spot on.

    Sold!

Spring rates are very similar to G4, the G5 SRT shocks are 200/500, GTS 220/550 and TA 240/600 rates. The SRT shock will likely ride slightly better, but have never tried so no way to be sure. If the shocks are off a GTS they will be stiffer and TA shocks will be even more stiff as I believe when you do not have control of the dual mode they default to the stiffer settings. Factory shocks new are more than MCS singles and slightly less than MCS doubles so unless you get factory shocks cheap not sure worth even trying.

They are off a SRT. The fronts are nearly identical in height, maybe off by 1/4 inch. but the rears are about 1/2 taller. Thinking lowering caps would make these a good fit.

I think the lower fork is a bit wider isn't it? Either way a few washers should solve that issue.

Very easy to swap the wider lower shock bushing onto the GEN II LCA. Bolt pattern is exactly the same.
