    Dash Cam Setups

Anyone running a dash cam in their vipers? I've made it the habit of putting them in every one of our family cars as some cheap insurance. Looks like I can tap off the included radar detector power harness they gave each car. I used to do monthly compilations of stupid drivers on youtube but I got tired of doing them.

Easily tapped into the radar wire. According to your name... looks like you're a fellow viet?

I'll be running a Waylens camera in mine this summer once I pick it up. Already have the power tap created so I don't have to run power down to the dash. I've had it in my Jeep since beginning of year when I bought it, great features but not cheap that is for sure.

Running a Waylens in my Volt at the moment. Awesome features, especially the Bluetooth OBDII reader. I actually just run the long USB cable out of side and into the power outlet to avoid having to tap anything.

I used the wire from the radar pigtail as a signal wire for power on, I ran power from the batt in the trunk.

This way I can leave it on while parked in lots or shops!

360 degree cameras are really cool, who ever is watching your video they can look around the entire cabin and see you gapping that Z06

got my dash cam setup. I used a spare G1WCB I had laying around, used the included 12V power connector, wire nutted it with the 12/5V supply for the cam and a mirror tap style wire for the radar detector. The headliner is nice and spacious to hide wire and a small power supply. Very clean and everything is concentrated around the mirror.

good deal on a dash cam here, i havent tried this one out but its lower profile than the G1WCB. Aukey seems like a good brand considering their other products.

Doesn't it drain your battery at night?

no, it has a battery saver. After a set amount of hours it turns off OR if the battery voltage drops below a certain amount it turns off.

I also put a switch so I can just turn it off when I am parking in the garage.

How long does it normally last until it turns itself off? Sometimes I leave my car for a few days (if its raining, or too cold) and Id like to have it keeping a watchful eye in my parking garage since it's semi public.

I set it for 72 hours, I forget the voltage I picked.
if you run a trickle charger you can let it run 24/7.

Also if you have wifi in the garage you can view it remotely.
