Motec vs AEM infinity 10 info

I am looking to possibly twin turbo my viper and want to go standalone if I do. What is the no kidding total cost for a Motec system vs AEM Infinity 10. As far as capabilities I know they are close in regards to what I am going to be using it for. I am down the road from Calvo so I hope he chimes in with some info. Just curious. It seems like total cost for stuff is always discussed behind closed doors so search doesn't turn up anything.

    Thanks

I'd call Aaron at Nth Moto. He can give you all the info you need.

The AEM 10 MSRP's for about 4k and several places sell it for around 2800. I'm not sure about the motec.

Personally, I still recommend Pectel over all others on Gen-1/2/3/4 applications. The flexibility is extreme, all can be done with one box and no expanders of any type, and the self-learning fuel map aspect of the software has yet to be matched. For Gen-5, the CAN flexibility of the Motec M1 series however currently holds the torch... though I have been working on this with Cosworth for possible future addition in some form. In all other cases though where CAN integration is not a big problem, Pectel is the most complete and flexible single-box option with the most powerful out of the box software. Cost is right in line with Motec M1 base pricing, perhaps a little less when factoring that you do not need coil drivers, expanders, or LTC modules... and certainly easier to wire. A secondary consideration is that if you wanted a Digital Dash for displaying all of the other engine parameters, the Omega ICD that pairs with the Pectel is probably the best looking and most functional dash available right now.

If interested, I do have Pectel systems on the shelf.

Thanks Dan, I had not even looked at the Pectel stuff. I will take a look at it. I am just researching things right now. I am out of pocket doing military stuff right now so that's really why I haven't been able to drop by anywhere. Thanks for the info

No problem. But just forewarning, if you have any questions on Pectel, you will have to ask someone like me. Pectel is true professional motorsports grade, and not geared for the end user in most cases. What that means is basically... good luck finding any information on the internet short of primary hardware specifications in a basic PDF. The software is not generally available to just anyone either. Pectel is primarily set up for dealer integration and programming, though we dealers can of course give you everything you need to tune yourself.

Range is from Mild to Wild, would need a lot more info to give you an even remotely accurate number. However, figure they can range from about 10K for a very basic standard install, to 30K+ for an M series controller, extra sensors, bells and whistles, digital dash, Mil-Spec harness, Traction control, etc, etc. If I was to estimate, a relatively complete TT Install & Cal with a few extra sensors and such based on an SQ6 would be in the 15K ballpark +/-.

Would any of those TT packages allow us Canadians to pass our smog tests?

Well, first... technically nothing can pass an inspector that truly knows what he is looking at. Jokers like that can spot an Air Filter and prevent you from passing.

But can we build a package that will pass a Canadian/USA sniffer, or Plug-In OBD-2 inspection? Yes.

The only one I would have a headache working around would be California, as they actually scan CVN, which indicates any changes in programming. I am sure I could work around that too, but its an even bigger pain. Different years have different requirements and work-arounds.
